SOURCE: ice maker won't dump cubes

the problem is that the tray doesn't eject the cubes, they get stuck and it just breaks them and only parts come out instead of the whole cube/crescent, then the proper amount of water comes in as refill, the tray gets too full and your problem begins. Take the unit out, then take the tray out, its's easy, and give it a light coat of Pam, olive oil or corn oil, the cubes will eject properly. It took me 3 years to figure this out, it willl amaze you.

for everyone with the fan screech noise, replace the fan motor, don't buy the blade, look around the websites, I found it, my second replacement, for 28 but as high as 65.

yeah I hate this fridge too

SOURCE: ice maker flooded top freezer compartment

It may be just the water control valve on back of refrigerator. Put tap water in ice maker and lower lever for on. After ice is made, does it drop to tray? At this time when empty is the time the control valve is asked for water. The problem could be in valve on back or the inside ice maker itself. If you can try a few test with me I will help you locate the problem. Let me know what you find as I go through this with you. Sea Breeze

SOURCE: If my ice cubes are

Hi,
The ice thickness is too thin...
turn the screw on the ice sensor IN or clockwise about 1/8 turn at a time till you get the right thickness...give it a couple of dumps before making another adjustment after doing the first one...be careful as the sensor is very sensitive and can be knocked out of wack very easily...

Manitowoc Ice machine only makes 2/3 bin of Ice and shuts off

The unit shuts off based on the magnetic reed switch in the plastic curtain on the front of the evaporator. If the ice is not falling as one single sheet with about 1/4"-3/8" of a bridge conecting all of the cubes then the ice is too thin. When the ice falls (in a single sheet of ice) if there is enough ice in the bin to hold that ice up and keep the curtain open the unit shuts down. A full bin may only be what appears to be 2/3 or 3/4 of a bin full because the ice sheet is propped up behind the curtain. If the ice sheet is too thin and does not fall as a single sheet more often than not a single cube or a piece of a cube can get caught between the curtain and the evaporator plate. This can shut the unit down for several hours until that piece melts and the curtain closes again.

Arctica won't make ice; ice was frozen solid yesterday. After removing, it won't make any more ice cubes.

As long as the ice trays are filling with water, it's not actually the function of the ice maker to make ice. Ice simply forms because the freezer compartment is cold.

The icemaker's function is to sense when ice is formed in the trays and to dump the ice into its container.

This requires the use of a thermostat to sense the water/ice temperture and 'tell' the icemaker when it's time to dump the ice.

During the dump cycle, a heater briefly comes on as the arm swings through the ice cube compartments to assist in loosening the ice cubes and make them easy to dump.

If the icemaker is filling with water but you get no ice, I suspect that either the control circuit (thermostat, relays, and wiring) is not 'telling' the heater to come on, or the heater is burned out.

Some units also have a timer circuit such that both the timer contacts and the thermostat contacts must be close in order to initiate a dump cycle (i.e., it must be time to dump and the water in the cubicles must be frozen).

A skilled homeowner could make these repairs, but if you don't feel comfortable taking your icemaker apart and testing the components, I advise leaving the job to a qualified repairman.

I hope this helps. Good luck.

ICE CUBE WATER FLOW IS LOW

This is a Manitowoc model QY0214A. The water tough starts to slush up after about 3 minutes after start up cycle. The slush prevents water from flowing to the pump for circulation.
