Wireless not enabling

The wireless button on the f12 key will not re-enable my wireless connection. The wireless would not connect on my laptop, but it was working on all other devices' so I pressed the wireless on/off key. Now pressing the key again will not re-enable the wireless connection and the wireless status light on the key will not turn from orange to blue' indicating that it is on again. What should I do???

Silly question, but are you folding the "Fn" key (bottom left of keyboard) down at the same time as you are pressing the "F12" key?

SOURCE: Wireless Button Disabled

After one month of trying everything, I finally figured this one out.  First turn off and restart your computer.  Then press F10 to enter the System BIOS Settings.  Select F9 (Setup Defaults) and when it asks Load Default Configuration Now? , Enter YES.  Then, press F10 (Save and Exit) and when it asks Save Configuration Changes And Exit Now, Enter YES.  This should restore the wireless LAN button to its original factory settings.  Once you restart the computer the button will be listed as disabled, but press on the button and it should work again.  I hope this helps someone else out!

SOURCE: same problem, bluetooth not working

Hello sushma_visha,

Sadly, the Acer Aspire 5100 notebook computer only has an 'optional' bluetooth module. However, a bluetooth usb adapter can be installed to add bluetooth functionality. Here is a link to the Acer Aspire 5100 specifications web page. As you can see, bluetooth is not mentioned in the specifications: http://support.acer.com/acerpanam/notebook/0000/Acer/Aspire5100/Aspire5100sp2.shtml

SOURCE: can't enable Dell Wireless 1390 WLAN Mini-Card

I had the exact same problem and went through the same steps that he did. It was only when I searched for a physical wireless switch (on the left side of my Dell D630) that the problem was solved. I didn't even know it was there and must have inadvertently knocked into the off position.

Need function ket number to turn on internetwork

I don't fully understand your question. Do you mean which function key on the keyboard (F1, F2, etc.) to turn on wireless internet? You usually do not use a function key for that purpose. There is usually a switch or button on the laptop somewhere to enable or disable the wireless internet. The switch might be on the front edge of the laptop or just above the keyboard. Or are you in need of the passcode to connect to a wireless network? If so your internet provider should have provided the passcode or you will need to contact them to get it. If you are trying to connect to someone else's Wi-Fi network they will have to provide the passcode.

Turn wireless networking on

On the top row of keys, where the Function keys are, you should see a second set of BLUE icons on the keys. The F12 key will turn on the wireless. You must PRESS AND HOLD the Fn key (next to the Windows keys at the bottom) while pressing F12.

How to enable a wireless connection on a laptop

LOL, hit the FN key and hold it down while you hit the function key (F1 thru F12) that has the wireless signal on it. The icon will look like )))))

Once you Press and Hold the FN function key then hit the correct key with the wireless icon ))) you can look at your lcd screen and it should say Wireless On or Wireless Off as you toggle by hitting the key.

Also make sure the wireless switch that is either on the side or front of the laptop is on if your model has one.

What function keys do I use to get a wireless connection?

Have you tried using the function keys? There is a row of keys at the top labeled F1 though F12, they also have symbols. Find the one that looks like one of these, press and hold the function enable key that is like at the bottom of your keyboard and then select the button you found in the top row.

Brother i have just opened a wireless network but my wireless network is not working properly. Can u plz contact me for some help i shall be very thank full to you if u do this favour for me. Thanks...

Troubleshooting issues with wireless connectivity can be tricky. There are a bevy of potential causes for drops in the connection, slow-downs in throughput and sporadic signal loss. As such, it's best to take a shotgun approach, throwing a number of possible fixes at the problem and hoping one sticks.

Check if your laptop's wireless switch or button is turn on - look around the laptop in front, back or sides. Sometimes you might touch to turn off accidently and you don't know. Many laptops have the wireless light indicator, check if the wireless light is on and blinking.

Look for F1 to F12 functions keys, they are on the top row of the keypad. Look for one has an icon that looks like the wireless, which is to control the wireless connection of your laptop. It maybe F8 or F9 depends on each make of your laptop. These function keys also control the brightness, sound, touchpad etc. You will need to hold down the Fn + F8 combination keys together, in this example the Toshiba laptop's wireless setting.

Check Network connections; make sure the laptop connection is not 'disabled'. It should has the gray color if it's disabled. Right click on it and enable it.

  • 4

If none of the above works, you will need to enable the Wireless Zero Configuration in services.msc (type this in from Run command), or you can see it this way: Right click My Computer -> Manage -> Services and Applications -> Services.
