Question about Boating
Minn kota e-drive 48v trim problems, will not go up or down. motor works fine no issues. when engaging rocker switch in either direction (up/down) there is a clicking sound but no movement. further, the trim position display on the dash of the boat reads full up (which it is) but when manually changing the position of the arm that follows the position of the unit is always reads in the full up position. the control board was changed last year and the unit was kept in doors during the off season. help

Hello Jim. You have lost your power some where. Start with the wire & terminal connections to the battery. Open the bottom of the foot pedal and check the wiring connections there. Note be very careful here for you have the battery still connected. You may have a fuse in line some where blown. You can check for voltage with a VOM(volt meter) on the wire terminals. Good Luck.

There is kind of a collar on the lower side of the head where the head connects to the shaft. There is a single bolt that runs right thru the shaft at this location, remove it. Rotate the head 180 degrees and re-install the bolt. 5 minute job.

I'm installing a Minn Kota Power Drive 70# on my Crestliner Fishhawk. I understand the 24 volt system. however the boat has 2 black, an orange and a red wire running to the batteries. I know black to neg. but where do the orange and red wires go.

The pedal has generally four functions:
1) Forward and back on the pedal make the motor go left and right (push forward to turn the motor right, push back to turn it left)
2) Momentary power - the little 'button' towards the top will engage the motor as long as you press down on it.
3) Selector Swith - on the side of the foot pedeal there is a switch with the following settings Con - Off - Mom (Continuous - keeps the motor going all the time, Off - well it's off and Mom - will only go when you press the momentary button).
4) Speed select - the knob on the left controlls how fast the motor goes.
It takes some getting used to but offers tremendous control and hands free operation!
