So I plugged the one end of the AC cord, that should have went into the dock, directly into my iPhone and the other end to my computer during the initial activation. I didn't realize you had to dock the iphone then plug the AC cord into the dock. Will this damage my iPhone? There really weren't any warning signs and it seemed to activate okay. I noticed the "do not do this" in the Adobe User Manual off of Apple.com after I already did it. Now I am concerned that my battery is running out quicker... maybe I am just paranoid for no reason??
The iPhone manual suggests this practice for product longevity, but it will not damage your iPhone.
If you think you're having shorter than expected battery life, try calibrating the battery. Do this by powering the phone off and charging overnight. By charging overnight this will allow the phone to be fully charged for at least two hours before you start using it. The next day, use the phone until the battery is absolutely dead and leave it dead for an hour. Charge the phone back to full and you should be set.

The instruction manual says, "Don?t connect iPhone to the USB port on your keyboard?it does not have enough power." There should be no problem not using the dock.
