My phone refuses to turn on. I tried to do the reset that others have mentioned at my phone is unresponsive. Nothing about the phone is showing any signs of life. It worked fine last night, this morning its messed up. Can someone please help me?
If just removing the battery dont work... Remove the sim and battery then put the battery back without the sim. Try hard reset now. Tmobile wanted to send me a new phone til I figured this out. They now have this solution in their tech notes.
Don't know about the "reset" that others have told you about but I can tell you this. I had an HTC similar to this one for about a year (different model). It seemed to be a pretty decent phone except that occasionally it would do something very similar to what you're describing. The only way I could get the phone to reinitialize was to remove the battery completely and leave it out for a minute or two, then reinstall it. That worked every single time. Don't know why the phone would hard lock like this. I even tried new (hacked) firmware but it still did the same thing. Hope this is helpful. If so, please remember to rate my solution. Thanks.
All we can do here is try. If we're lucky, we can draw from experience. Unfortunitely, my past experience and your current experience(s) with this manufacturer's devices were not the same. It sounds like there might be a common defect with this model since a number of people seem to be having the same exact issue. Sometimes the only "fix" is to replace the broken or defective device. I hope jwh197466 is also able to get a free replacement.

The logic board needs to be replaced and runs around $70. If HTC doesn't help you, here's a guide on how to disassemble an HTC g1. Maybe a tech savy friend can do it for you. If you want to pay to have a service do it for you there are third party HTC Repair Services.
