No sucktion into bag, air coming out the sides

No dirt goes into bag. It picks up dirt but does not go into the bag. Strong air is coming out of the sides where there is the vent. No sucktion in the long tubes that you use as attachments.

My Oreck XL vacuum does not have enough suction to pick up dirt. Any suggestions to remedy this problem? The belt is strong, the bag is not full, and there do not seem to be any obstructions.

Turn the machine on and be sure the bag expands quickly and fully like a balloon. If the bag does not fill with air, or is soft, there is probably an obstruction inside the handle tube or fan housing. Disassemble the handle to check for blockage, or remove the bottom plate to check the inlet to the motor fan.

Machine screams /not enough sucktion

This is probably a plug in the suction side. if it is an upright with no hose, try removing the bottom where the brush is and look for an obstruction where the air goes up into the vacuum. On a canister vacuum check the wand then the hose for something inside blocking the air flow. On bag types, make sure the bag is not full or the inlet to the bag is not plugged. Hope this helps

Kirby won't pick up dirt when I vacuum

Very likely the air flow through the machine is clogged. Remove the bottom plate, inspect the air passage going into the motor case. Remove the bag and inspect the air passage that goes into the bag. A stiff wire (coat hanger) with a hook bent on the end is handy to dig out the clogs. When it looks clear, start the vacuum again without the bag (take it outside--it will blow debris everywhere for a little while). Hope this helps!

The brush spins but the the dirt is not getting into the bag. i cleaned the hoses now it's not sucking anything up.

If the motor is running you should get some kind of sucktion, if no sucktion or wont blow any air out, check the house making sure is clear of any obtruction, the best way is looking in the house by have one person hold one end and other pull the house straight and look to see any obstruction. if it seem clear, check the motor attach to the fan, yep you have to take the cover to the motor off with phillips screw driver in order to see what causing motor not to **** although the motor may not be attached to the fan; could be loose and not spining the fan to create any sucktion. hope that help some..good luck

My vacuum will not pick up even fuzz on the carpet

If the suction is strong through the hose and its still not picking up, then something is definately clogged despite the strong suction and rolle brush. Check all inspection tubes including the main dirt channel behind the roller brush. You may find something that keeps getting in the way when dirt or hair is trying to bypass through.

Not picking up dirt.

There is a Clog in the machine...
Somewhere between the motor and the bag.
When you use the machine, the dirt picked up by the roller has no place to go but backwards.
You will need to disassemble it and look for the clog.

Check the hose for a clog, also check the dirt inlet down by the brush roll for a clog. If bagless, the filter inside the tank may look good, but if it is old then you may want to replace it.
