Usually on the Toshiba laptops you need to hold down the function key to get your numeric pad working. try looking for a key labeled 'fn' down to the left of the space bar. Once holding it down, try using the number pad

How can i lock the keypad?


Hi Eliza,
Enabling and disabling the embedded numeric keypad
Press fn+num lock to enable the embedded numeric keypad. Press fn+num lock again to return to standard keyboard functions.
NOTE:
The embedded numeric keypad will not function while an external keyboard or numeric keypad.

My acer travelmate 2410 the letters I o p j k l are typing the numbers 1 to 6 Instead


Has anyone spilled any liquid onto the keyboard?
This is a common indicator as to why the keyboard gives wrong character inputs.
If this is the problem, the keyboard will need replacing

If this is not the case try pressing the FN and NUMlock keys together

The key in the top-left of the numeric-pad enables/disables the numeric keypad. Press it once, to make the keypad function as a numeric-pad.

Cordless Numeric Pad


If you are using a cordless numeric pad, it likely came with a USB connector. Plug the USB connector in. This should automatically install with Windows plug and play.

You should then be able to punch the numbers in just like you would on a keyboard when you have excel open.
