Whirlpool duet fabric softner problem

When I first started using the machine, I would fill the fabric softner and at the end of the full cycle the fabric softner and detergent spots would be empty. Now at the end of a full cycle when I try to do the next load of laundry the fabric softner spot is full of water. Why?

Re: whirlpool duet fabric softner problem

According to the whirlpool FAQ's page, that is normal. They stated that at the end of the cycle, fresh water is used to clean the detergent holders. Not sure that I believe them though.

Re: whirlpool duet fabric softner problem

It obviously is backed up or splashed in from the wash. And if it is just water why worry about it.

The fabric softner compartment of my whirlpool duet washer is completely full of water

Mine is doing the same. For over 2 months now I've been adding fabric softner to the detergent compartment but I broke down and called a repairman to come tomorrow... at a ridiculous repair rate. My washer is less than 3 years old and this will be the 3rd major problem that needed to be fixed. I've seen a lot of people post the same problem - some say all 3 compartments won't drain.

Don’t wait for the machine to jam to look into your filter.

You can use Affresh to clean your front loader. Deposits of soap and other such things can be stuck around the inside tub of your washer. Try this product, it works great on all front loaders. Use very hot water with the Affresh pellet with no clothes and run the machine through a cycle. Also helps with any stagnant water smells. Put the Affresh pellet inside the machine, not in the soap dispenser.

You can give me a ‘very helpful’ rating for the free help, can't you. Thanks.

hopefully your using the HE type detergent an fabric softner, an not using but a teaspoon full each. the machine will detect if there is any product left in depenser. an too there will be some water left to keep lines an seals mosit. to keep from drying out so thats normal.

Whirlpool Duet Washing Machine

its normal for this to occour, atvery least nothing to worry about, the unit "floods" the compartment to release the fabric softener, and uses a syphoning action to empty chamber, regardles sof usingor not waterenters the chamber, and depending on level determines if it empties or not

There may be an ajustment above the soap drawer unit. Take the lid off to see. If there is an adjustment its a 'trial & error job' to set it right. TURN THE POWER OFF FIRST

Water in bleach/fabric softne compartment

Purchased the duet washer and dryer sept 2004..have had the same problem with water staying in the compartments. while under warranty had to place 2 service calls..the last tech order a new bleach compartment...that helped for a few months, but back to the same problem with having to pull entire container out and empty..i do remember the tech saying that whirlpool duet was first introduced in germany...then the united states...they have had the same problem...and that whirlpool is awhere of it, but nothing can be done about...except keep emptying compartment when it fills with water...our neighbor bought a duet washer last problems like we are having..whirlpool must of solved that issue with the newer versions.... paying $1000.00 for a washer and having to empty the compartment everytime doesn't make sense to me.
