Question about ASUS Q200e Touchscreen Notebook

1 Answer

I opened and started my laptop for first time on 26th April 2013, after initial settings and windows activation on same date, the battery was shown low by laptop,so I plugged charger. Now,as I am charging battery,I feel mild electric shock waves all over the metallic part of laptop including lid and interiors, while moving fingers over. Moreover, while charging, the track pad does not respond well, the cursor hangs and sometimes uncontrolled movement, but only during charging it is happening. Also I hear a constant 'kit-kit' kind of sound repeated within interval of few seconds present even without charging position. So I am afraid to use it furthur. Can anybody help ? Thanks in advance.

Are you using a 2-pin plug?

Usually when you use the 2 pin plug, there is no earthing/grounding available so the current passes through your body to the ground.
Try using the 3 pin plug. It should solve the problem.
In case it doesn't, it's better to get your laptop checked.

You can buy a 3-pin plug laptop charger at

SOURCE: can i fix my broken laptop.

Well, if the display comes on at all, then it must be a loose connection in the wiring. Sometimes this is a simple reseating of the main cable to the mother board which comes down from the display near or around one of the hinges (in most cases). I would suggest, purchasing a cheap external monitor, and plugging it into the rear or video out port if you have one, and switching your display to go to the external monitor, this will work good as a desktop scenario. Otherwise, you need to take it all apart and see if you can find out where the loose connection is, this is no easy task, and should be done by a qualified laptop repair person who has experience.

SOURCE: Hi! i have an Asus

Hi there, I had and have the same problem since I bought. It went to Asus to repair and 1º time, 1 month later, they said it was a fault in the camera, and replaced it. Bah!! the 2º, 3 month later, it was the OS and reinstall it the XP. Bah!! bullS" the 3º time they update the BIOS which worked until now, but the reality is that it was just a lucky, it is for sure the BIOS or chipset problem. Mine occurs when I am running on battery and with the WIFI and Bluetooth on and the battery runs out, either the XP tries to hibernate or suspend mode and after that it show the same problem as you describe. - I know it does help you but it might give more hints for who understands.

If you have just purchased this laptop then return it to the shop and ask for a warranty replacement. Do not try to repair it yourself as you may void your warranty.

Some of the keys give different letters to those shown

It sounds like the Keyboard Language Setting is not set correctly.

Open Control Panel from the Start Menu (may be under settings) then look for Date, Time, Language and Regional Options. Within that, select Regional and Language Options. On the Languages tab, click the Details button.

Verify that the correct Language is shown in the "Installed Services" box, and also make sure that the Default Input Language dropdown (above) is set correctly. You can use the Add button to add a new language that isn't already shown.

These instructions are for Windows XP with the control panel set to Category View. If you have a different version of Windows please post further details.

This sounds like the cmos battery is low.
This battery sits on your motherboard and provides the ROM with energy. Replace this small battery, set date and time a final time and then it won´t happen again.

Information about virus.

The CIH virus infects executable files and is spread by executing an infected file. Since many files are executed during normal use of a computer, the CIH virus can infect many files quickly.
There are several variants of the CIH virus. Some activate every month on the 26th, while other variants activate just on April 26th or June 26th. Once the CIH virus activates, the virus attempts to erase the entire hard drive and to overwrite the system BIOS. Some machines may require a new BIOS chip to recover if overwritten by the CIH virus. CIH only affects Win95/98 machines.
More technical details about the CIH virus can be found at the following site.

The solution appears to be common for all recent Emerson SmartSet(tm) radios (BTW it's not the clock fault, it's the law).

Remarkably Emerson foresaw this, so here we go.

Short version (may require three hands :-) )

DST start:
Press and hold MONTH/DATE and ALARM 1 buttons for at least 3 seconds until the display changes to something like "4 F" (Fourth month, First week) alternating with something like "4. 1" (April 1st, for 2007) or "4. 6" (April 6th, for 2008). While holding down the MONTH/DATE and ALARM 1 buttons, now press the DOWN or "-" Set button (3 times) until "3F2" shows (Third month, second week) alternating with something like "3.11) (March 11th, for 2007) or "3. 9" (March 9th, for 2008). Let go of all buttons and we are now half done.

DST end:
Press and hold MONTH/DATE and ALARM 2 buttons for at least 3 seconds until the display changes to something like "10 L" (Tenth month, Last week) alternating with something like "10.28" (October 28th, for 2007) or "10.26" (October 26th, for 2008). While holding down the MONTH/DATE and ALARM 2 buttons, now press the UP or "+" Set button (1 time) until "11 F" shows (Eleventh month, first week) alternating with something like "11. 4" (November 4th, for 2007) or "11. 2" (November 2nd, for 2008). Let go of all buttons and we are now done.

This should remain until either the lithium battery fails or Congress undoes its work.

BTW the Emerson addendum has a history error. The time change in the first Sunday in April and the last Sunday in October did not start in 1966, but in 1987. Before that starting in 1966 the standard was set at the last Sunday in April and the last Sunday in October. Except for 1974, when it was January 6th, 1974 (DST start) and October 27th, 1974 (DST end) and in 1975 when it was February 23rd, 1975 (DST start) and October 26th, 1975 (DST end). Before 1966, state and local governments had many different rules. Source: http://webexhibits.org/daylightsaving/e.html
