Question about Toshiba Satellite L10 Notebook
Power to laptop but its only showing enter password in a blue box dont know password cant get on to safe mode and windows doesnt come on to do anything how can i get round this
This is the Password for the BIOS on the motherboard. There are physical pins on the main board of desktop computers, but I'm not sure how to reset the password on a laptop. you could try resetting the CMOS of the laptop and see if it helps. to do that, follow these steps.
Turn off the Laptop and unplug it
Remove the battery
undo the RAM cover
Remove the RAM
plug the laptop into the power
Turn the PC on and listen for some beeping noises
If you hear the beeping noises turn the laptop back off
Unplug the charger
Replace the RAM into the RAM slots
Replace the the battery
Plug in the laptop and power it up.
hopefully when it powers up it will run straight to windows. Good Luck

no i'm affraid that the bios is locked and you cannot reset, you need the password to access the laptop.
try "toshiba" as the password and see what it does

The problem can be due to incorrect power on password prompt. This problem is noticed with some older BIOS versions. The system is looking for a non-existing power-on password.
The only solution for this is to send the system back to Toshiba. They will repair this problem free of cost.

this will vary depending on your operating system
type in net user username
For eg. If you want to change administrator password , type net user Administrator
it will prompt you to enter the new password
enter the new password and the password is changed
if this fails you will need to
Select safe mode with networking to download
you could download all of these or just one save them to a usb drive for later use if one fails to remove the password
A CMOS BIOS password recovery tool
Editors note: This tool should only be used by experienced computer users. Please see the enclosed read me if you would like to run it from Windows. Failure to follow instructions (from Windows) will cause your anti-virus to flag this as a virus.
