There is a lever microswitch on this model of projector which the filter cage is supposed to hit when it's fully engaged. There is a problem with this microswitch. The easiest way I found to fix it was to override it - you have to take the housing off and trace the cable from this switch. Take the cable and cut it, then short them together. Problem is now fixed(my projector is very old now, but I have just fixed it in 3.5.2020, lets hope it keeps going)
The job would be too complicated to get to the actual switch. By overriding it in this fashion there is minimal work to do with less risk of breaking something else when you open.
Most projectors have a safety interlock switch installed on the lamphouse door and in the filter cavity. They are there to keep the unit from operating if one or the other aren't present. I'm not familiar with your exact model, but I've seen the lamphouse interlock switch in several Panasonic units come-loose, and slide to the point where the pin on the door doesn't push the switch any more. I would suggest looking around your filter for such a switch. The one in the Panasonic is behind a round hole, and is 'pressed' by a plastic pin on the door. Your filter may be similar. Hope it helps. :)
