Whirlpool Refrigerator Flashing lights

I have a Whirlpool WRF 401 IX fridge. It only runs on the first setting (one light) any other setting trips the motor and the lights start flashing. Has the PC board packed up and can I obtain one from Whirlpool as I'm told there are none available in South Africa

SOURCE: Refrigerator does not run. Exterior indicators flashing on and off.

jsrock, if you can do some voltage checks we can help you with this board issue. The thing thats throwing me is the clicking you are hearing. On that board, on the bottom you have a three pronged harness that is blue. Should say J8, J9 and J4 which is line. Get some jumper wire with clips on each end and jump line to compressor, J4 and J8.(Rev1 boards was J11 and J8). You are now sending 120V directly to the compressor and if it is good, it should start and you can rule it out. After this, unplug the J2 connector from the board. Check for 12VDC, not AC, at pins J2-8 to J2-3. If you do not have that voltage, replace the main board. If you do have that voltage, you have a short in either the condensor fan motor or evap fan motor circuits. Carefull, you will be working around live juice here. Catriver...post back.

SOURCE: WHIRLPOOL REFRIGERATOR DISPLAY FLASHING AND NOT COLD

Before replacing the board, you should try replacing the starter relay on the compressor, presuming the clicking is coming from this area? The flashing could indicate that the fridge is out of setpoint temperature range and is an alarm to this fact. If the clicking is coming from the board area, it is a relay trying to come on. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Freezer light flashing

if you have ice built up on rear wall of freezer section then your unit is not going through defrost cycle which builds up frost on evaporator and restricts cold air flow over to the fresh food side.

Seems to be a problem with this fridge. Mine did the same for a couple of weeks (and I have a friend who also has one and it is doing the same) and now only runs on 1 light - useless. Have been told that the "PC" board needs replacing. No stock of the part. Never want to buy Whirlpool again!

I have a whirlpool WRF40 ix all refrigerator. The problem is that the compressor trips at the high cooling settings (4 and 5) starts again and then trips immediately again. It only runs at 3 or lower....

WHIRLPOOL WRF40 Solution to this problem!!! very easy ----I assume you have a problem with the control board switching on and of erratic when you pass setting 3 on the LED display, the designers of this fridge left the calculator at home that day, ask a technician to replace the Resistors 5, 6 & 7 (330 OHM 1/4 watt) on your electronic control board with 680 OHM 1/4 watt. This would solve the problems with this board, the LEDs will not be as bright as they were but still highly visible. Questions? deon@electro-web.co.za

Adg 3962 IX showing fault code f2 with flashing

The machine has a switch inside that activates when a set amount of water is loaded.
If this switch then breaks (switches off) during the wash the machine assumes that the water has leaked out.
Run it through a couple of washes, check for a leak and see how it goes.
Hopefully it will be fine.
F2 indicates a flooded base.

Press and hold the start button until the start light goes out. (This resets the appliance)
Select a new programme and try the machine again.

If it comes up with a fault F2, take the panel off below the door and check for water in the base.
Be careful when you take the panel off, the exposed edges are razor sharp.
Drain any water in the base, reset and try the machine again and watch for a leak through the inspection panel.

Fridge keeps tripping the circuit breaker

Unless there is a dedicated circuit of 20 amps to the refrigerator this will continue to happen When your refrigerator goes into defrost and other things like lights fans air conditioners are on the same circuit it will have no choice to not trip the breaker. Try this turn the breaker off and how may thing in your house stop working? You need a 20 AMP circuit or this will possibly damage the compressor or weaken the breaker because it has tripped so many time. Thanks, Please rate my solution, I have done this work for 30 years. Thanks, Sea Breeze
