I guess the pests are fruit fly or white fly from any fruit you may have left. Leave the door open . Switch off the fridge . Use a fly spray. Clean the fridge with warm soapy water and vanilla ( soapy water leans the fridge while vanilla clears the odours) Close the door and turn on. Next time let the fridge run as it consumes very little power if the door is not opened and is ready for use on return.

Home alone for home electronics

I have come across many complaints of home systems not working when one comes back after a long holiday. This made me think to give some tips so as to take care of your dear products while you are away.
To start with disconnect cable line and power to your TV and Home System , Disconnect power generally to all the other appliances if the period of absence is more than a month.
Now the most important part is that in many cases moisture build up, condensation and insect infestation can be the biggest problem apart from power related issue for which we take off the cable and take power plug off.
Cover the concerned appliance with a GOOD BLANKET to keep it warm within. If there are devices with battery you can remove battery or keep them connected to power specially cordless phones. But laptops can be kept off power. Micro waves must be clearly covered as the kitchen appliances are most vulnerable to such problems.
when you return after the holiday the clocks might have to be set after switch on .
However many may dispute to say that the power can be put on but in many cases lack of human interference results in insects to barge in and cause havoc. Hence if you in such a threat and environment, try this out.
Also you may end up saving power by switching off the fridge during this long period.
Hope this tip finds use with a purpose.

Hi my Kenmore side by side refrigerator is hooked up to the "Hot" water line, by the previous home owners. I want to switch to the cold water line. Not sure how.. and what I need to do this. Thank you

This is normally done with what is called a saddle valve. They are available at hardware stores, plumbing shops and places like Lowes, Home Depot, etc. However these are used on metal pipe.
If you have plastic pipe you will have to use a different method.

I operated the "Holiday Mode" button on my Model WSE6100WA fridge. After returning the temperature display etc does not illuminate so I can't operate any temperature controls

The eco/vacation mode only exits when the door is opened if it was started automatically by the refrigerator. Since you pressed the eco button, you'd have to press the eco/holiday button until the display shows no icon for the feature.

How long did you have the power off to the refrigerator? Try pulling the plug for a 5 minute power outage. If that doesn't solve the problem, I suspect your appliance may have been damaged by a power fluctuation while you were away. Without additional information, I can't tell if only the display panel is damaged or if something else is wrong. The parts diagrams for the refrigerator are available here: .

I hope this helps.

1year 2months old Sony Bravia KDL46HX820 powers on for few seconds ; I see black clouds on the top left corner ; TV switches off and 4 red lights blink ; Please advice on what might be the issue

No Vertical Sync is the fault. This is a main board fault. The main board might need replacement. But before confirming, check all the voltages comes to the main board from the power regulator board. If you wish to know more about the voltages and their sources, check this link.

Left burner lights and holds flame, right burner lights but has extremely small flame. Roadtrip LXE Grill.. After reading losts of issues, including the spider home... not sure if there is something...

The only place the line could be blocked is either in the burner, the venturi valve on the burner and the burner orifice. In any case, the burner must be removed to insect it thoroughly, as well as clean it.

Hope this helped you to trouble shoot and solve the problem.

I brought my dlink model DIR 601 with me to use at inlaws but forgot the disc on the counter to download it how can i use it

You do not have to use the cd.
Shutdown your PC. Unplug the power from the router and the cable modem.
Wait 30 sec. then plug in the power to the cable modem, wait 30 sec. then plug the power to the router. Wait till you have "Internet" light then restart your PC. The PC should pick up an IP address and you should be able to get on-line. This is if you have a cable service provider. If you have DSL, the router needs to be configured with PPOe.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response. Happy Holidays!

Thanks, Joe

Refrigerator is stuck in defrost mode.

If the compressor is running and not getting cold I would say that you have burnt out your compressor.
If it was stuck in defrost you wouldn't hear the frig running. When in defrost the compressor stops while the frig defrosts.

LCD Display behaving badly

It sounds like the ribbon connector or flexible connector is not seated quite right. I would open up the unit again and carefully inspect this or any other cable that you had unplugged.  Reseat these properly and power it up again.

These cables can be very easy to damage if not replaced properly. Take special care.
