Strange but true. The left side of the car has no sound. The speakers have stopped working. Is this a fuse issue and if so where? Does the amp have fuses and what do they look like?
Try pressing the right button of your stereo 3x which i think is for the balance of the speakers probably it is only balanced on the left side just put it in the middle

radios have a balance function and it is possible that that was moved to only the one side
as to the chimes , find out from the service person what was done to stop them working
Turn on the radio and increase the volume if you can hear a hiss through the speakers, chance is the aerial/antenna connection is not hooked up correctly. Another way to check is try tuning to an AM station if you get a signal on AM but not FM then it is The antenna. You may have to remove the radio to get at the connection.

Sounds very much like you have a nick on the wiring and it maybe shorted, check your Fuses, it maybe a fuse, but if it's a nick in the wiring shorting, get it to a Garage to check, as it may cause a fire in the engine someday.
first> road vibrations can cause cable connections to come loose so you can start by taking out your radio and making sure all of the questions in the back are connected as they should be. Second> if this doesnt seem to work then the next step is to check the wires going to the speakers that arnt working (this will b quite a job, but if you can do it, it will save u quite a bit of money) .. checking the wires your checking for >bad connection to the speakers >cuts in the wire or if any part of the wire is touchin any other metal object
easiest way to see if the left outputs have gone is to swap the right and left speakers over. if the left works out of the right channels you know if the set has had it.hope this helps
