Thats a common problem caused by defective capacitors on the DM PWB which prevent the set from booting up. The V26 DLP DM kit at the following link will usually repair that issue and it comes with step by step instructions on how to do the repair. Look under the repair kit category.

I have a wd52525 the status light keeps blinking

There are 3 different LEDs on the front of this televison. The TIMER will blink green. The STATUS will blink orange and the LAMP will flash red or orange depending on if there is a failure or if the lamp timer is showing over 5000 hours.

If I answer your question directly and the status is blinking a steady orange light, then you have left the side filter cover or the front lamp cover off or they are loose.

Also holding the menu and device buttons together until the timer light blinks will reveal a code that will help in diagnosing your problem. Goodluck.

Mitsub replacec 52525 lamp. green timer light blinks then red steady light.

I have exactly the same problem and just had a tech leave after a $145 service visit. The cause is a problem in one of the 12 circuit boards that make up the electrical chassis (newer models only have two boards). I was given a form stating that some parts are no longer available for the first generation Mitsubishi DLPs (2004 build year). In that case, the only option is to have the entire chassis removed shipped to Georgia and refurbished. This can take up to two months and some sets have had to have this done multiple times.

I have to wait until tomorrow for news on whether the part is available or a chassis repair is the only option, and the costs. But it's looking like I have a $3000 paper weight after only 3 years (warranty was one year; the store's extended warranty was only two years). I will must likely just have to go out and buy a new set which will NOT be a Mitsubishi

Mitsubishi WD52525 DLP Projection TV

Mitsubishi TV troubleshooting
Here's something that might also be useful. After you turn on the set, and get the regular red blinky lights, hold down the Device and Menu buttons together for about 5 seconds.
The Power light will start to flash in a two digit sequence.
For example, 3 flashes, then 7 flashes = 37.

Here are the error codes, and the corresponding problem:
12 = No error detected, check power supply.
32 = Lamp Cover is open.
33 = Air filter cover is open.
34 = Lamp abnormality
36 = Light Engine (DMD or Lamp Fan stopped)
37 = Exhaust or Lamp Ballast Fan stopped
38 = Lamp Temperature High
39 = DMD Temperature High
41 = Short is detected
44 = DVI cable between FMT and Engine disconnected
