Usually with extenders you need to connect via an ethernet cable in order to enter the proper information to connect to your base station router. Look in the manual for the IP address of the extender. Networking iPhone iPad Samsung and Kindle Accessories

How to connect my iPad physically with the router

The iPad doesn't support Ethernet (aka wired) connections. It's Wifi or nothing. There are no adapters and the iPad has no way to handle this.

That being said there should be no need to connect the iPad to the router with an Ethernet cable. If you can't get a good signal, you either have to move closer to the router, buy a router with better range, or install range extenders/antennas.

Cant keep ipad2 connectd to netgear wnr1000 vs

Sounds like the Ipad is getting out of "readable" range of the WiFi signal. You might log into the router and change the channel to channel 1. If that does not work, try another channel. If no channels work, you will probably need a Wifi extender to get the signal upstairs and readable for the Ipad.

Can an IPad memory be extended?

As far as I understand it the answer is no. You could possibly get it done by someone other than Apple, but it would probably be prohibitively expensive. It probably would be better selling the original ipad and using this money to purchase a new ipad.
