I have various adapters in the house. The missing one is for a 7.2 Volt Cordless Drill and Driver. The closest thing I have is marked 9 volt.
Is an absolute match a necessity?

YES, if you try and use the other voltage it might "cook" the battery. Give me the brand and model and I will try and find one online for you or if you give me your location area I might find one locally.
