Question about Dryers

Open Question

Westinghouse LD505e has stopped working

It was working fine - a cycle had just about finished when I grabbed a piece of clothing out. The rest of the load was done, so I took it all out & put the next one in. When I hit start, all I got was 3 beeps. Nothing is making it start now! I let it rest, powered off, overnight; I have tried using something to activate the lock mechanism (while the door is open), and that didn't work; i even tried to spin the barrel and then quickly press start - also didn't work. Would like to know what it is - even if so I can at least tell the repair man!

SOURCE: Maytag Electric Dryer Stopped Working

Check spring tab behind door switch-if it's bent/out of adjustment, circuit will act like door is always open.

To confirm this, open door, set dryer to active setting, and hold in door switch; if it comes on, then it's either the spring tab, or the switch is malfunctioning

SOURCE: Fisher & Paykel Auto Sensor Dryer stops & beeps constantly

Hi emkboyce

my Fisher Paykel auto sensor dryer keeps stopping and beeping, i have to stop it and and re start.

I had the same problem. I took it off the wall and vacuumed up all the lint from everywhere including around the back and including taking off the back and vacuuming everything I could reach inside. I then used a damp cloth to get rid of the rest of the lint/dust.

I thought I was wasting my time but guess what, the problem has gone.

Good luck!

SOURCE: westinghouse ld505e lights up for will not start

Try opening the door, spin the drum by hand, then qi\uickly close& press start. If this works, then the capacitor has failed. About $30, easy to replace.

SOURCE: GE dryer heavy duty 7 cycle, just finished drying

Check to see if you can spin the drum fairly easy. Also, try to leave the door open, hold the door switch in, and then start the dryer and give the drum a spin to see if it starts.

My Westinghouse LD505e suddenly stopped working during a drying cycle and it won't start. Would anyone be kind enough to guess what could be the problem and advise a solution. It's 4years old

Probably a blown fuse due to a heater element problem or maybe a bearing problem. I recently worked on one and did a movie which shows the fuse location and all:

Westinghouse dryer ld505e on/off button wont stay on when l push it

If it has dampness sensor strips inside the machine they may be coated with dryer sheet wax or some other mess. Clean them with windex and retry. As the clothes rub against these sensors the dampness causes the dryness board to keep the machine a going. if no dampness is detected the dryer shuts down. Supposely to save power.

My whirlpool washer will start then stop before it reaches next cycle

1 Look at the drain hose to make sure it isn't kinked or clogged. If there is a piece of clothing lodged in there, clear away the hose from the pump and yank the clothing out.
  • 2 Take a look at the switch under the lid of the washing machine. If it doesn't click when you press it, it may be broken and the washer may stop during the drain cycle. Call a repairman to repair or replace the switch.

  • 3 Examine the clothes tub and the outer tub of the washer for anything that may be stuck in there.

  • 4 Open the main access panel of the washer and take out the large rubber hose connecting the pump to the lower part of the outer tub.
  • 5 Check to see if there is a piece of clothing stuck in there. If so, use a pair of needle-nose pliers to grab the clothing and pull it through the port. If it is difficult to reach, you will need to take out the agitator, the top part of the outer cylinder, and the interior tub to grab it. Unless you have special skills and tools, you may want to call a repairman.
  • 6 Inspect the pump for a clog or frozen pulley. To check if the pulley is broken or frozen, take the pump out and attempt to turn it manually with your hands. If it's stiff or appears frozen, install a new pump.
  • 7 Call a repairman if these steps don't work.

My Westinghouse lt908s washing machine has started bundling clothes up and knocking sides of machine. Even after opening lid and redistributing load evenly it keeps spinning then bundles up load and knocks...

May be a problem with agitator gear box, open on wash cycle and use screwdriver to by pass cut off switch by pushing screwdriver down on little switch that is located where tab on lid is.If agitator is traveling at too much of a rotation that may be cause, also agitator mat be lose if you can grab and move up and down. Then remove cap on top of agitator and tighten bolt,if lose if not agitator may need to be replaced!
