Must be sitting on the seat with blade disconnected and foot on the brake.

maybe the safty switch under seat might be starting to go out if that switch doesn't work the blades wont come on at all for safety

Go to www.searspartsdirect.com. put in your model number, from under the seat and it will bring up parts list and diagrams for you.

You have to use a volt meter and test the ignition circuit to find out where the voltage stops. If you have 12 volts going in to and out of the switch, then switch is good

Try cleaning or better yet, replacing the spark plug. Depending on age and how your tractor was maintained, there are other possible causes.
