SOURCE: hp laptop random shutdown - overheat?

Your CPU is likely overheating. Very likely the thermal conducting material between the CPU chip and the heatsink may have shrunk and now impeades the thermal transfer.
You may need to remove the heatsink and put new thermal paste and perhaps copper shim to restore the thermal contact to the heatsink.

SOURCE: Laptop Screen Freezes and turns black When Adjusted angle.

It is possible that the video cable is chafing in the point where it passes through the hinge assembly. Try reseating the video cable, if that doesn't help, the replacing the LCD cable assembly is the likely fix.

My Lenovo Yoga tab 3 keeps shutting off and going back to the locked homescreen. It does it all the time, i cant really do anything on it w/o it shutting off. Any awnser?

Does it shut down, then restart? Or does it go back to locked screen but stays powered up?

If it shuts down, the processor could be over-heating. This means cooling fan might be broken or running too slow.
If it just restarts, then check your settings in the 'power-saving' section, assuming your're on Windows OS.

Gateway laptop stayed on blue screen and it says intalling updates but hasnt moved from 1 of 159

The only thing that you can do at this point is Shut it down. If this is windows 10 it will recover by itself when it powers back on. To shut it down you can hold the power button down for 10 seconds.

Cusious, windows 8 or any other should not avoid the monitor OSD
I would suggest trying the monitor on another source and see if still OSD not functionning. then if it is the case the OSD menu button can be stuck (does not give the signal)

try to work the thing from there.

Lenovo g480

Turn off your computer. Remove charge. Remove battery. Hold down the power button for a minute. Connect only power cord and restart it.
IF not working, then you need to either replace charger or it is an issue with connecting port.

On AC or Battery? As I'm sure you know, your Laptop will dim the Display on Battery to save power. In Windows 7, Open the Control Panel, select Power Options, select High Performance, select Change Plan settings, set Display time, set Sleep and Hibernate to Never, select Change Advanced Power settings, scroll through each one by one and adjust. OR right click a open spot on the Desktop, select Personalize, left bottom select Display. adjust to your preference.

It sounds like its overheating, but don't try and run the system without the heatsink and fan in place as this is sure to burn out the processor.
You need to make sure the heatsink is sitting on the processor and you should apply some thermal paste where the two meet to aid cooling. Make sure all the vents are clear of dust and the fan is working and is clean & is on the right way round, i.e. blowing down on the heatsink.

My one and a half year old Lenovo SL500 is getting extremely hot under the left side of the machine... I can hear the fan working hard almost all the time. I am scared that something will be...

The ThinkPad SL500 usually comes with a Core 2 Duo processor, which is a fairly powerful processor. You may also have chosen to buy a discrete graphics chip with the laptop (instead of using the Intel Integrated Graphics). System components like these generate a large amount of heat. It is the fans job to push this heat away from the precious system components. This is very difficult in a laptop, because the components are very compact, and the only way for heat to escape is through the sides (heat wants to rise). When doing processor or graphics intensive tasks (such as editing/encoding a video or watching a move in High Definition), the fan has to work near its maximum to keep the computer cool. While it may sound intimidating, the fan will never push itself to a breaking point unless there is a problem with its design, in which case Lenovo will pay to get you a replacement. Even if there is a problem, if the processor gets too hot, the computer will instantly shut itself down before any heat damage can be done to the components, and you will be certain that the laptop has faulty hardware.

Feel the side of the machine where the exhaust comes out; you should be able to touch it for a few seconds without burning yourself even while doing intensive tasks. If it is too hot to touch, you may want to contact Lenovo and see what they say.

Toshiba satellite A60 no boot

We can only assume that because the cd drive operates then the motherboard is operating in part, although, the southbridge chip may be damaged, as the northbridge works memory etc. Maybe it is that the processor is fried as there is no fan and the system then shuts down. Toshiba are probably half way there with the answer, unless; they investigated further and decided it was not the processor but the motherboard.
