Question about Acer Aspire Computers & Internet
When I turn on my laptop this comes up: For Atheros PCIE Ethernet Controller v184.108.40.206(12/15/09) Check Cable Connection! PXE-M0F : Exiting Intel PXE ROM. Operating System not found. I have tired using the System recovery disk it'll load what language i want, then it'll go to the options menu but won't let me chose any other option but exit. what do I do?
Disconnect your ethernet cable. Try restarting with last good know confirguration. Turn computer on while tapping F8 key. There are options there. You may also see Repair my computer, I would definitely do that. If this does not work then your computer's boot order is messed up, you can fix it. It is possible you may have to reinstall your operating system from your recovery disk. First things first.

The Recovery disk could be damaged or corrupted. The reason you are getting the Ethernet controller error your laptop can not find an operating system on the drive. With the aspire try ALT-F10 when you power on the system it will take you to a system restore partition. This will only work if the Hard drive is working. And it will wipe your drive so if you did not have any backups well you will lose all data on the disk.

Can you access your BIOS when you turn on the computer?
Somewhere in the BIOS you may have inadvertently changed the netbook to boot from the "Network via PXE" instead of from your local hard drive.
To enter the BIOS, you must restart the PC and enter BIOS setup or BIOS features by pressing Delete or another hardware specific key on BIOS screen startup.
From there, you should encounter a series of menus that you can navigate only with the keyboard... not the mouse. With luck, you will find a boot menu option that you can correct.
Make sure you save your choices on exiting and restart your PC. With a little bit of trial and error, you should be able to coax your netbook to boot from its internal driver.

That message is because the laptop is trying to boot through the network. You have to change the boot order in the BIOS, and put on first place the hard drive. Press the F2 key just before turning on the laptop. You should go to the bios program. On the bios, search for the Boot tab-move with the directional keys- you should see something like this: http://slackworld.berlios.de/2007/images_vmware/vm-bios-cdrom-boot.png. Press F5/F6 to move the hard drive on top. Then press F10 key, hit "Y" and then "enter". The laptop will reboot and it should boot through the hard drive-on which you have windows. If with hard drive on top, you still get that messsage, you will have to reinstall windows-it means that the files in the hard drive are corrupted- or replace the hard drive.

Ya sounds like the hard drive has died or there is a interface problem since you suffered from water damage. you may be able to get data off the hard drive by using a external hard drive connector but it may or may not work.

Testimonial: "Ok thanks, i got a better idea and understanding about whats going on."
based the message that you encounter, it may pertain to boot priority or to BIOS configuration.
My recommendation is for you to access and reset the BIOS settings on your computer.

Sounds like your hard drive has gone bad or your OS have gotten corrupted as it's trying to boot from a network connection.
If you have a bootable CD or floppy you can try at the command prompt
chkdsk c: /f if that doesn't work try
If neither of these help try reloading your OS but honestly it sounds like a defunct hard drive
