Calm down.
First of all don't panic on the Start menu and Modern UI.
You'll get used to it and you'll find out that it's pretty easy to use.
If you will try and still you won't like it then please add a comment on that and I will send you instructions here on how to return back to Windows 7.

How to restore acer laptop to factory settings after it has been through alterations on OS

There is a distinct possibility that any recovery partition was wiped out in the downgrade to Windows 7. In the unlikely event that the recovery partition is still intact, then you may be in business. Reboot the machine and immediately press ALT+F10. This should bring up Acer recovery and allow you to re-install the original OS and settings. Be advised all other apps/data/settings will be wiped out in this process. If the recovery partition was deleted, this process will not work, and you will need to obtain and reinstall the Operating system manually.

Toshiba Satellite A505-S6012

You may have written over the Recovery Partition when you install Win 8. Have you tried a System Recovery using the Toshiba Recovery Procedure: http://cdgenp01.csd.toshiba.com/content/support/manuals/userguides/su2428485/GMAD00209010_SatA500_09Aug13.pdf Start on page 60. If you boot the Laptop do you see a "D:" drive? When you loaded Win 8 did you choose C drive and leave D intact?

When start to set up my new computersaw windows 7 wasn't install and there was window 7 disc in box i intsalled it when it got to enter product key it froze and cann,t do any thing

Go here, and follow the section on "Recovery from the startup screen (during system boot)" and see if that helps. If there is a Factory Reset Partition, this procedure will put your machine back to how it was shipped. You will probably still have Windows 7 setup questions to answer the first time.

Restore my acer aspire 5742 back to factory settings w/out disk

Step 1 Open the Windows Start menu by clicking on the icon in the lower left corner of your desktop.
Step 2 Click "All Programs," then the "Acer" folder.
Step 3 Select "Acer eRecovery Management" to open the utility. If a Windows prompt asks for permission to run the program, click "Yes."
Step 4 Click the "Restore" button in the pane on the left side of the program window.
Step 5 Click "Completely Restore System to Factory Defaults."
Step 6 Select the "Yes" option in the dialog box that asks you to confirm the action, and click "Start."
Step 7 Click "OK" in the second confirmation dialog box to restart the computer.
Step 8 Click "Next" in the warning window that appears after the computer reboots. This confirms that you realize restoring the computer deletes any data stored on your hard drive.
Step 9 Click "Next" again in the Restore Destination window, and click "OK" in the popup that gives you one last warning about deleting your data. The restoration process will begin.
Step 10 Click "OK" when the utility lets you know that the restoration is complete. The computer will restart, and Windows will finish the recovery process.

Back to factory setting

Try running the check disk utility.

To run the check disk utility you will need a repair disc or a operating system disc. Put the disc in the cd drive and boot from it. You want to get to the Dos Command Prompt (Black screen with white letters) and type the following command: chkdsk /r
Check disk will run well over an hour or two and you will notice the percentages going from high to low, this is normal. Let it run to completion. Then reboot machine.

If check disk fails to solve your problem you might have to reinstall windows. Try doing a Repair Install that way you don't loose your data, documents, music, pictures, videos or programs.

In windows xp you get to the dos command prompt by selecting R for repair when the options appear.

In Vista and Windows 7 you want to get to the recovery console and look down at the bottom of the window for the Dos Command.

You'll need to read your manual to see how to start the Factory Setting. Look for the manual on your manufacturer's website.

Get online and got to www.google.com In the google search box type: "Acer Support" (without the quotes and put your manufacturer name before Support). Look for downloads and drivers. Enter your model number and operating system when requested. Look for Manuals and search them for Factory Restore or System Recovery.

I'm trying to restore my laptop back to factory settings It's windows 7 the cd disk don't recovery disc don't work

Have you tried while in Windows, to use the Start Menu, find Acer on the All Programs list, and locate the recovery utility? I have an Acer laptop - an Aspire - and had to do exactly that. I used the built-in recovery routine on the Acer Laptop and was able to rebuild my laptop to the condition of when it just came out of the box, brand new.It will delete all your installations since you got it, applications and documents and photos, etc., will be gone, but your laptop will function as if brand new. Good luck with it. -a.

Need To Reboot to factory settings

System Recovery is Factory Settings. Did you make the System Recovery Disk or are you trying to use the Recovery Partition that the manufacturer put on your hard drive?

Cant restore factory settings Acer Aspire One A110-Ab 8.9" 1.6 GH

Unlike other laptops, Acer laptops integrate a computer management utility called 'Acer eRecovery Management' to create backup of hard drive data, create restore point, reinstall applications & drivers, and reset Acer laptop to factory setting.

Step 1: Before starting your Acer laptop, ensure that there is no external storage device attached to it. Now start your laptop.

Step 2: Press 'Alt + F10' when the laptop starts booting, and wait for a moment while Windows loads the reset files.

Step 3: When 'Acer eRecovery Management' window appears, select 'Restore System from factory default' and click 'Next' to continue.

Step 4: Again click 'Next' to reset your Acer laptop. This process will erase all data from your hard disk and reset your Acer laptop to original factory settings.

Step 5: Click 'OK' in the notification window to begin the the resetting operation. Now wait while your Acer laptop is reset to factory settings.

Tips: You can also create a backup copy of your laptop data before factory reset. Simply click 'Backup' in 'Acer eRecovery Management' window.
