Help! Cell phone black

7 days ago my phone fell into a pool, I spent many precaution and put it in rice for 3 days no power. And work like a champ again for the last 4. Last night the screen shut off while the phone still is working. I can't see what I'm doing, but I can play music... Plug in password etc. I've already tried pressing home and power button but the reboot always shuts off after a few seconds... Any ideas?

I've dealt with a lot of cases of devices being dropped in water. Sometimes, you cann get lucky and get it dried off before damage happens. A lot of times, the effects occur later. The moisture has a way to find a spot and the corrosion takes a little while to happen. I'm not very helpful but it's a fact of life: electronics and H2O don't mix. Sorry!

SOURCE: white screen`

I was having the white screen problem and what seemed to fix it was to take the back panel off, remove the battery and clean the connections.

SOURCE: Black screen Sony Ericsson K850i

Hi,

I just had the same problem. I tried everything including resetting the whole phone upgrading the software etc etc.

I was convinced it was a softare problem, but my screen only went black when i press the buttons on one side of the keywpad so i started thinking it may simply be hardware related.

I tried taking off the case but didnt have the screw drivers to do this.

Eventually in a fit of rage I threw my phone on the floor (Carpetted floor) and too my surprise the problem got better! I basically gave my phone a few more whacks and it started to work fine again.

I am not suggsting you start whacking your phone, but i imagine if you took off the case and re-fitted it this would work.

Good luck.

SOURCE: iPhone Black Screen, and nothing

Plug the iPhone into your MacBook, make sure the mac is plugged into a power source and open iTunes, if iTunes detects the iPhone, re-sync it from last back-up ... This should make the iPhone crash, reset and be back to normal. If not, hold down the sleep and home button, keep holding it after the apple logo appears, until it shows a USB plug into iTunes sign, the plug the iPhone into the mac and it should happen as before. Good luck cheers

Did you phone fall into water? Help is on the way.

If you have a cell phone or a cordless phone and it fell into water here is a tip.
Put the phone in a full box of rice for a minumin of 3-7 days. After day number 3 you could take it out and check if it working again. If not just leave it a bit longer.

(My cellphone went through a washing machine load and then was in rice for 5 days and is working just like before the screen is on and all is working.)

My samsung rant fell in some water is their any way to fix that or no

disassemble it as much as you can. leave it in a dry warm environment for about a week to dry out. put it back together in about a week. charge up the battery and power it up. cross your fingers it may work.

p.s. was it on when it fell in the water ?

My phone fell into water about two weeks ago. It cuts off when turned on by itself, but remains on when it is on the charger. Can you help please

Hi CerulianSky,

We need to draw out the remaining moisture.

  • Get a paper bag and half fill it with uncooked rice.
  • Take the battery off the phone
  • Wrap them both in a paper towel
  • Put them in the bag, fold the top shut
  • Leave them in a warm dry area for a few days.
  • Try it out periodically. it may take as long as a week but the moisture does transfer to the rice.
I know it sounds bizarre, give it a shot. This has worked even after extended immersion.

Best Regards
Mike

My phone got wet

Try removing the battery, using a blow dryer to air everything out in battery compartment. If there are any tiny screws or way to open up the phone itself, open it up, and blow everything inside there too.

Let it dry out completely and then see if it will work again. My guess is no, because once the circuits get wet, they are pretty much damaged and irrepairable.

Hope this helps at least some. Good luck!

LG Dare dropped in Pool

Just put it in a bag of rice for couple of weeks. The rice pulls all the water or wetness out of the phone. How do I know, Well I found a brand New Lg Dare phone in a puddle, put it in rice for 2 1/2 months. I took it out of the bag, put it together, turn it on. To my amazement it worked. Ran to store, bought a charger, and it has worked every day since.

Phone fell in the toilet and need method to dry.

Remove the battery, do NOT try and power it on. Get a bowl and pour some rice into it, place the phone in it and let dry for a few days.

If you try and power it on while there is ANY water left inside it, you can short it out and ruin it permanently. This is the best known method, but is not guaranteed to work.

Thank you for choosing Fixya!
