SOURCE: power supply for Seagate 400GB

Ebay or seagate.com may be a solution.
I've used those Seagate portables and 2 have caused problems.
Or disassemble the unit, remove the drive and buy a portable case or USB adapter.

SOURCE: seagate hard drive will not power up

You have to be running NT, XP or Vista to access the drive. I take the power cable out, then plug it back in. Or try rebooting with the hard drive plugged in. Also purchase a USB Extension port so you can unplug the USB when not in use to stave off overheating. Go to Seagate and download Seatools. Also Download the source code for the drive while you are there.

Cyberhome CH dvd-300

Power supply problems. There are many reports on this site for problems related to the cyberhome dvd player, one of them mine. Here is what I found. The dvd drive was ok it was the power supply that failed after a power surge. The power supply is a flyback power supply using the viper22 switcher by STM Microelectronics. you can download the specs with a schematic diagram simular to the one in the cyberhome unit. I wound up replacing the shunt regulator (TL431) Optical coupler (PS2561-a-1) , the 2200uf cap and the 1000 uf cap. this brought the 5 volt output to 5 volts which was the problem. The parts can be ordered from Mouser Electronics.
1000uf @ 10 volts PN UHE1A102MPD
2200uf @ 25 volts PN UFW1E222MHD
TL431 PN 512-431CLP
PS2561 PN 551-PS2561-1-A

Warning: The high voltage side of this power supply has 120 VAC and 161 volts dc when energized. thak precautions when measuring the voltages on the output. Good luck

Hi, I have a Compaq PSU (PN: 230822-001) from a HP Proliant server. I am try to test the output of the unit but need to 'enable' it using the pins on the back... Do you have any information...

OUTSIDE of a redundant PSU - The power supply is very inexpensive and can most likely be bought from any of your computer retailers, Amazon - Just make sure to confirm the right model type of power supply. BEST to have it tested before replacing it. To make sure that is the issue.. Many computer shops will test for free.

Need a replacement power supply, or at least need to know what input (volts and amps) the drive itself will take

Generic replacements for Seagate external drives are are pictured with a circular cross section plug with a yellow tip. They are rated at 12V 2A. They can be found on both eBay and Amazon.
If they look the same as your old supply, anything with that rating should be suitable.

There should be a sticker on the old unit with it's electrical characteristics, power ratings in and out.

Please i need the power adapter rating for seagate

Have you got the original power adapter?
If so the voltage details are printed on the label on the bottom of the adapter.
If the external USB Seagate hard drive houses a 31/2" drive then it requires an power adapter that provides +12 volts and +5 volts both supplying approx 2000mA of current.
If the Seagate uses a 21/2" (laptop) hard drive then it only requires +5 volts power adapter.
The only problem is the power connector to the external drive, make sure it suits the external hard drive unit and the power pins are correctly wired for the Seagate. If the polarity of the plug is incorrect lt wired (ie reverse polarity) then it could damage the USB hard drive and adapter case.

Have you tested to connect your HD with another cable (power cable)?

Is it an internal drive or external drive?
