Question about Apple Ipod Classic Black 160gb Video Mp3 7th Generation Mp3 Player Newest

Ipod classic stuck in restore

My iPod froze a few times and I either ended up resetting it unintentionally or the iPod reset itself. I tried to plug it into my PC to sync my music back onto the device, but got a driver format error. I tried a few different things with my computer's device manager, but what ended up working was uninstalling the device and ejecting it. Finally my iTunes recognized the iPod and I was able to restore; HOWEVER, it's been on a "Do Not Disconnect" screen with the flashing (not frozen?) Ghostbusters NO symbol. Does a restore take forever and I should just leave it alone for however long it takes or is it probably stuck and doomed forever and ever?

First make sure your hold switch isn't on. It's on the top or bottom and slides back and forth. It needs to be switched to the left. Once it is to the left, here's how you reset:

You can reset your ipod by holding down the menu and select (round button in the center) buttons down for at least 10 seconds. You'll see an apple logo flash, that's when you stop pressing the buttons. It will shut off, then back on.

IPOD Classic 80G apple icon then red x icon or restore in itunes

I know you tried to fix it, but trying multiple times may work.

The message "go to www.apple.com/support/ipod" usually is preceded by, or followed by, the Apple logo or the sad face icon. It directs you to the Apple support site because either the iPod software is corrupted or their is a hardware problem. You should try to reset the iPod (try several times). If that doesn't right the iPod, then try to restore it (which will erase the entire iPod and reload the software.

Follow the links above and see if that gets your iPod working. You might want to see if you can update the iPod/iTunes software or try this troubleshooting guide. If it is really a hardware problem then your iPod needs to be taken in for service.

IPod Classic 80GB Won't Sync More Than 1.7 GB/Hard Restores Itself for No Reason

It sounds like there is a fault with your hard drive. Reformatting your iPod disc might solve the problem. You can do this by right clicking on the iPod drive in My Computer, selecting format, and doing a quick format in Win32. If the problem continues then it will mean a new hard drive to solve it.

My iPod froze, and says it is recovery mode.

try a reset

To reset your iPod:
  • 1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
  • 2. Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 10 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.

Tip:
  • If you are having difficulty resetting your iPod, set it on a flat surface. Make sure the finger pressing the Select button is not touching any part of the click wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Menu button toward the outside of the click wheel, and not near the center.
  • If the above steps did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep

Is it still in recovery mode?

You may need to repeat this step. Tip: If you are having difficulty resetting your iPod, set it on a flat surface. Make sure the finger pressing the Select button is not touching any part of the click wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Menu button toward the outside of the click wheel, and not near the center.
