Hi, i bought a duplex unit for my old Deskjet 5550. I inserted it into the printer, but i am not able to print both sided. I tried it with Win 2000, XP and Vista, all printer drivers tell me "Doblesided:yes" but when i print something doblesided, the driver tells me to turn around the paper.
Is the unit not recognised correctly or is there something to chance with the driver? Thanks for your help. martin
You need to set the duplexer to installed. For Vista this would be done as follows: go to the Printers folder, Right Click on the 5550, Run as Administrator, Properties, (continue), Device Settings, Installable Options, Duplex unit (set to Installed), Apply, OK.
Once you have done this in Vista the duplexer will work but the back side may print upside down regardless of the settings. This can be corrected with a patch available here.

I changed by ink cartridge and when I tried to print nothing would happen. I got the message "door open". I closed the lid. I also checked the back of the printer for a paper jam and closed that door, also.
