Question about Computers & Internet
They can't be both Master Drives, i.e. you will have to play with the Drives Jumpers, i.e. make one of them Master and the other Slave OR if you are using the 80 wire IDE cable (PATA) then choosing Cable Select (CS) on both should do the trick.

There may be an easier solution. If you remember a time when it worked, do a system restore to that date. If that doesn't work, then try the following. Oddly enough, you don't need drivers for the CD/DVD drives--they aren't even recognized unless you have a non-microsoft burning program. Find out what burning software you have-- I recommend downloading Belarc Advisor, a free program which not only tells you everything in your computer, with model numbers for hardware and all of your software (with their unique codes), but will also inform you if you are missing any needed Windows updates. Once you know what you have, you have to seek a download or upgrade at the computer manufacturer's website, as it may be a special program not related to the burning software from the software manufacturer. That may do the trick--sounds to me as if your burning software is corrupted.
