In almost all cases where the set is taking a long time to turn on and then turning off it will be the Power Supply board that will have bulging capacitors, usually three to five. Look on the upper right side of the Power Supply and look for any blown caps. You can replace these caps and you will be fine. Now the other cause can be the Power Switch is shorting out. You can disconnect the the Power Switch but not the IR sensor and then turn ON the set with your TV remote and see if this stops the problem. If you are not skilled in component level repair on the Power Supply board then buy a new Power Supply board and install it.

Sorry, could be anythings, parts wise in the power supply board.Check the A/C power cord for damages,by shakings or flippings it around while the tv it on.Tries resolders all the transformers, capacitors and the power a/c socket on the board. These are the major points, power comming in and sustance the tv power.Or tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a whole refurbush power supply board for the replacement.

First, look at the screen in darkened room to see if you can see any slight glow from the screen, if it does, then the problem can be the T-CON (not getting the 12vdc) or the main logic board not feeding the signals to the T-CON board.
if not, next place to check will be the power supply module, make sure it has 24vdc which is required by the backlight inverter to work, the reason for not having 24vdc can be from bad DC filter caps (leaking/bulging top, high ESR) or short circuits in the inverter board which will cause the 24vdc supply to go into shutdown mode, so you may have to disconnect the power cable that feed the inverter board to see if the 24vdc will work without the inverter board hookup, you will need to apply about 3~4 amp of load to the 24vdc to make sure it can handle that. There are fuses on the backlight inverter boards also. So there is some troubleshooting you will have to do to find out the causes of the problem you are having.

When you say it turns off , does only the screen turn off and you have sound or the entire tv turns off? If the tv turns off what is the status of the standby LED at the front when it goes off? Please provide this info so that we can commence diagnosis
