My CD player is a sharp cd-c622 and on the screen it pops up PROTECT it won't play or nothing

Try using a few different CDs. Try using cassette tapes. The protect mode is usually a recording feature that prevents the operator from recording over a CD that has data on it. Make sure you don't have the RECORD button pressed in!

Sharp 5 disc cd player

Email i got from Sharp:

I do apologize for the problems you are having with your audio unit. The protect mode
indicator will appear when the unit detects abnormal resistance in your speaker setup. I
recommend removing any additional speaker wire that may be added to the unit to extend the
factory speaker lengths. Also, make sure you have all the factory speakers attached, and all
non-factory speakers removed. Finally, please unplug you unit from he wall for 1 hour after
checking all of the above suggestions to completely reset your unit.
If you are still having issues after doing all of the steps mentioned above, the unit may need
to be evaluated by a Sharp Authorized repair center.

Protect error

The 'Protect' error means there is a DC voltage present in the output section(which should not be there). This can be caused by a defective output IC(the big IC on the heatsink). Disconnect the IC and see if the error goes away. Also check the resistors around the IC.
