Uneven borders how do i fix it

If you are trying to do this by setting borders manually you are probably running into the Canon's minefield of "minimal printed borders" which throw off calculations. The manual setting is primarily for off-setting images rather than for perfectly centered images.
For a centered image, the borders are automatically set by the relationship of image sizing to paper size, with "center image" checked and other sizing options unchecked. This has worked perfectly in the three Canon printers I've owned, whereas trying to set even borders manually was always off a bit and a real pain.
If you want the same border width for all sides, the aspect ratio of the paper and image will have to be different, strangely enough, for all but square images. For 1" borders all around on 10x15 paper, e.g., your 2:3 AR image will have to be cropped and sized to 8X13" dimensions.Hope It's resolve all Your Printer Problem,

Changing file/photo size

Image size: Press the FUNC/SET button. Use cursor-up/down to select the current image size at the lower-left corner. Use cursor-right/left to select the desired size and press FUNC/SET.

File size (compression): Same as above, except choose the item just above the image size.

Full instructions are in the "Changing the Recording Pixels/Compression (Still images)" section of the manual (page 57 in my copy). If you need a manual, you can download one from the manufacturer's web site at

How do i adjust image size since my mem card ca only store 10 pics only

Dear Friend,
All reputed company supply User Manual or Instruction Booklet along with their product to make the customer understand how to use the product. Most of the features are explained by illustrations. Make a habit to go threw such book and liturature supplied with the product.
In your case:
  1. Set the mode selector to Camera positionsony_baroda_4.jpg
  2. Turn on camera and press the Dustbin symbolsony_baroda_5.jpg The Image Size setup item appears
  3. Select the desired image size with up / down arrow keysony_baroda_6.jpg The image size is set.
After the setting is completed, press
(Image Size). The Image Size setup item
    disappears from the screen.
    • The image size value selected here is preserved
even when the camera is turned off.
Keep the size lowest or VGA when quality of the picture is not very important. To get best resolution you may choose larger size, at the cost of more memory usage and less number of pictures.
I hope this answer is useful to you and you will like to visit us again for your query.
Thanking you for using Fixya!

How do I set the resolution?

Press the info button on the back to bring up the shooting information screen. The second item from the top on the right column is the image size. Press the button to activate the settings, then use the multiselector to navigate to the desired setting. Press OK, use the multiselector to select the desired size, then OK to set it.

Your choices are Large (3008x2000), Medium (2256x1496), and Small (1504x1000).

Note that you cannot change the image size if you're shooting RAW. The image quality setting is the one just above the image size.

I have just purchases a 8018. It is default set at 3 mp. I have downloaded the manual and followed the instructions to change mp to 8. However, when the camera is turned off it goes back to 3. Is this...

Image Size
The image size and quality setting determines the number of photos that can be saved and the amount of
memory required for each photo. The higher the photo quality the more memory it will use up. The image size
and quality will also affect the maximum size you can print your photo effectively. To set the Image size:
1. Press the Menu button.
2. Press Right/Left button to select the Image Size mode.

3. Press the Up/Down button to select the desired image size.
4. Press the Menu button to confirm, save and exit to standby mode.
If this still doesn't work, press the menu button twice.

Reducing image size

You can change the record mode in the camera to shoot at a lower image size of 640X480 by changing from HQ to SQ mode. Page 72 of the instruction manual explains how to change the record mode setting. You can also use photo editing software to reduce the image size down to 640X480 which is equivalent to the size of a 3X5 photo.

Aperture priority and image size

Auto and the other settings each have an independent image size that the camera remembers. You need to set the image size for AP. Go to AP mode and press FUNC. The image size should show up in the left menu (it may say L, M1, M2, S, standing for Large, Medium, and Small, resolution settings). Select it and choose a different size that you'd prefer (believe that you want L). Then press FUNC again to exit the menu.

Won't recognize legal size paper

I have a Brother MFC-8840Dn (full legal-size flatbed as well as document feeder). I use Windows XP Pro and a USB connection. I'm not sure my fix works with other Brother models or different Windows operating systems, but it's a way to start troubleshooting at least.

I've always been able to print legal-sized pages from word processing or spreadsheet programs and receive legal-sized faxes. But I never could make legal-sized photocopies or PDF scans. The image was always cut off at Letter size. The fix is a Brother Utility set-up setting:

*** Go to Start / All Programs / Brother / MFL-Pro Suite MFC 8840Dn / Scanner Utility. (This link may also be called something like Scanner Settings.)
*** At the "Maximum Scanning Size", select "Legal" instead of "Letter/A4".
*** Click OK and restart your PC for the new setting to take effect.

It's like magic -- I can now scan a full legal-sized PDF, whether on the flatbed or through the ADF. I also tried a compressed TIFF scan and it came out fine.

**** Make sure your software and/or Brother Control Center scanning configurations are set to Legal if that's what you want for the particular image scan. The Brother Utility setting simply enables the option of choosing the larger legal-sized paper, which then allows the full legal-sized image scan, You always have to set your software to make that choice, just as you would to make and print smaller images on Letter, A4, envelopes, etc. (NOTE: I always start scans through software on my PC, like Adobe Acrobat or PaperPort, and the Utility Setting fix is working fine. However, I just tried pressing the SCAN button on the front panel of the MFC itself with a legal-sized document on the flatbed and through the document feeder. I still got Letter-sized image scans. So, there must be another setting somewhere for starting scans directly from the MFC that I'll locate later.)

I was about to buy a different brand of scanner because of the frustration with legal-sized images. It's like having a new scanner now :) I hope this Utility Setting info helps you troubleshoot your legal-sized image problem.

Taking a smaller image from S80

In picture-taking mode, hit the Func Set button. You will see menus of options along the left side and bottom of the display. Tap the bottom of the scroll ring (the ring around the Func Set button) until the bottom option of the left menu is highlighted in red. This option sets the image size of the pictures you are taking. Change this size by rotating the scroll wheel. The 5 options are Large, Medium1, Medium2, Medium3, and Small. The image size in pixels is displayed above the bottom menu as you switch between sizes. When finished, hit Func Set again.
