Bluetooth is a well defined standard, so any bluetooth device should be able to connect to any other bluetooth device. However, you need to check if your mini bluetooth dongle came with a driver CD, which is needed to add bluetooth functionality to your computer.
The printer Canon PIXM MP480 is bluetooth enabled ( which is optional ) but it is not fully functional without a Bluetooth unit BU-30 ( bluetooth dongle )
The printer has Bluetooth enabled adapter which means you will need a bluetooth dongle to make it work with your Macbook. You will have to connect the Canon Bluetooth unit BU-30 to the printer and enable to bluetooth function on the printer to be detected by your macbook.
You will be able to purchase the Canon Bluetooth unit BU-30 at any nearest stores ( bestbuy, walmart, costco etc ) for a price of $30 to $50 Approx. depending on the offers you will avail from different merchants/stores.
Well the problem which you are facing is due to spill of beer on the keyboard.
As the beer entered its circuit it might have damaged the bluetooth IC and disallowing it to work. While the light of the bluetooth is still on because current is flowing where as the IC is not functioning!
As per the manual the FN and F11 keys turn on both Bluetooth and Wireless so you need to try it will turn bluetooth and then it will turn on wireless, you can check them by LEDS
Press and hold the Fn button, and then press the F11 button
repeatedly to enable or disable the Wireless LAN or Bluetooth function
recurrently.
Wireless LAN and Bluetooth:
Wireless LAN LED indicator glows green when Wireless LAN function is
enabled.
Bluetooth LED indicator glows blue when Bluetooth function is enabled.
Both LED indicators glow green and blue at the same time when both
functions are enabled.
Both LED indicators go out when both functions are disabled. Note: For flight safety consideration, make sure these two LED indicators
go out when you are in flight.
Let me know if you are able to turn the wireless on
Also i will suggest you check in device manager that you wireless adapter is enabled
I don't think your printer is equiped with a bluetooth device. You might try buying a standard usb bluetooth dongle and put it in the usb port on your printer. That might activate the bluetooth menu. That worked on my HP 6310AiO.
Did it ever worked?
If you have never tried it before, it probably did not come with it. you can check to see if there is one already installed. It is is usually found near your ram. If it is there and and does not work, you can try to reload the drivers..if that does not work, it is probably fried.
Due to tolerances in manufacturing, some Bluetooth-adapters/receivers do not stick to the Bluetooth-standards exactly. If this only applies for one adapter/receiver in a pair everything works fine nevertheless. But if both do not stick to the standard, they might not be able to work together, although both would work with a standard-conform third one.
Before your mainboard was replaced, only your printserver was not exactly standard-conform. Now with a new mainboard (and therfore a new Bluetooth-adapter on it) just by accident your Bluetooth-adapter does not confirm to the standard, too.
If all this is right in your case, the solution would be to buy a Bluetooth-usb-dongle for your notebook and use this instead of the built-in Bluetooth-adapter of your notebook. If this new Bluetooth-usb-dongle confirms to the Bluetooth-standards better than your built-in adapter, this might cure the problem. Since such a Bluetooth-usb-dongle only costs about 10 Dollars, it might be worth a try.
