Question about Toshiba Equium A200-1vo 15.4" 1.4 Ghz Laptop Pc - 1 Gb Ram, 120 Gb Hdd Win 7
Laptop works fine on battery but when AC adapter is connected nothing happens after the boot logo. I have scanned the system file with "sfc/scannow" and find some errors and fixed that. Still no improvement. Reinstalled windows didn't helped. AC adapter and DC socket in the laptop is excellent. I suspect mosfets in the charging section of motherboard. If anybody have idea about this problem? Your help is highly appreciated at all times.
Hi, Try to Upgrade BIOS.
This will work same problem i had with my HP Notebook....
My laptop was also working good without AC adapter and no response on Charging connection.

You probably have a problem with your power adapter. Since you mentioned that the battery discharges when connected to the adapter, it means that the charger is acting as a load instead of the other way around. This is a typical behavior of a defective charger.
Try to check the output of your adaptor using any voltmeter. The voltage reading should be approximately close to the voltage rating as printed at the back of your laptop. If not, then its wiser to buy a new ac adapter instead of sending it for repair to electronic shops. Most of these chargers are no longer reliable when repaired, and might cause more problem to the laptop instead.

There's not much you can do. The problem is definately with your motherboard. I'd recommend a bios update, but normally you can ONLY run a bios update if the battery and the ac are both plugged in.
This problem is pretty common among Toshiba's A105 and P105 models.
Besides replacing the motherboard there's not much you can do.

How about this step, try to turn off the laptop itself. Remove the cables and battery just like what you did before, then press and hold the power button for 10 seconds. Then, reinsert the cables and battery on the laptop and then turn on the computer itself. If the laptop restarts, shuts down or freezes with the AC power cables, two things that you should seriously consider. It might be the power cable itself, AC cable port or the circuitry going to the motherboard. And since you have cleaned out the fan and heat sink, you have isolated that problem. Have you plug-in another power cable on your laptop? If yes, then check if it works. Otherwise, the main issue is that the AC port is loose or the circuitry of AC adapter going to the motherboard is not not working. You can re-open the unit and check the circuitry from the AC port going to the motherboard. You may check the circuitry from AC port to the power supply if it is ok. If symptom persist, please contact your local dealer...
