SOURCE: computer is not starting up in standard windows

Are you running Window XP? Is your computer set to hibernate? If so, you may have a hibernation error...

If I understand correctly, while pressing F8 during bootup you received a message that states:
"System restart has been paused:
Continue with system restart.
Delete restoration data and proceed to system boot menu"

You may wish to read this article about the error. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/294427

Then, go ahead and do that second option. What hibernate does is write a big file to the HD with the exact state of Windows. That is a "restoration" file. If hibernate doesn't work, deleting the restoration file will often allow the computer to restart normally.

Good luck! Please post back with your results.
If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take a moment to kindly rate this post....thanks!

SOURCE: smart failure'' cannot find safe

SMART failure is the message when the hard disk itself has failed - at a hardware level. There's nothing more that can be done to save it, all the data on it is lost.
Buy a new hard drive, replace the failed one and reinstall Windows- you will need an external/usb unit for that

Can zoom in or out when in full page mode anymore, just started yesterday aug 10/11

there is a pretty obvious bug when using 'Marquee Zoom' (Alt+5) in the full screen mode (F11). When you press 'Ctrl' to toggle 'Zoom In' and 'Zoom Out' (changing the little magnifying glass cursor from + to - and back again), it sticks with 'Zoom Out' and refuses to toggle back to 'Zoom In'. And then the only way to recover 'Zoom In' is to exit full screen mode, whereupon 'Ctrl' regains its toggling power and everything is back to normal

How to change text size in Internet Explorer

Some web sites use larger text while others use small, hard-to-read text. To change the size of text that appears on a web page in Internet Explorer, follow one of the two procedures below.

To change text size:

To make the text that is displayed in your web browser larger or smaller, click View on Internet Explorer's menu bar. From the drop-down menu, select Text Size. The five choices for text size will appear: Largest, Larger, Medium, Smaller, and Smallest. Medium is selected by default, but you can choose the size that you want. To change to a different size, just go back to the View menu and choose a new size.

Internet Explorer saves the selection that you make. If you load a new web page, or close and reopen your browser, the text size will remain at the level that you've chosen, until you choose differently.

To zoom:

Another way to alter text size is to use the Zoom feature. Zoom increases or decreases text size, but it will also make everything else on the page (such as graphics) larger or smaller as well. Zoom options can be found under the View menu, next to Zoom. You can choose a preset percentage to zoom, or enter a custom value, or just go larger or smaller by stepped increments.

The nice thing about zoom is that it has keyboard shortcuts associated with it, unlike the Text Size feature. By pressing [CTRL][+] you can zoom in (make everything appear larger) and [CTRL][-] will zoom out. If you want to reset the zoom value back to the standard view, press [CTRL][0]. These shortcuts will affect text size, but only in proportion with everything else on the page.

Some web sites (such as Yahoo) are designed so that the Text Size feature won't override the text size specified in the site's code. For sites like these, you can use the Zoom feature to enlarge or reduce text size.

My facebook pages suddenly became very small. I can't read them. I don't know how to increase the size of the page or of the font. HELP!

Pressing Ctrl+0 (zero) will restore to it's normal view. You have to press Ctrl and 0 simultaneously while the page i.e. Facebook.com is opened. For your information, if you press Ctrl++ (Ctrl and +), the page will be zoomed in and if you press Ctrl + - the page will be zoomed out means it will look smaller.
Let me know if you need further help.
Good Luck.

My facebook page got really small today, I can barely read it, other people's pages appear small to me also, but doesn't look like anyone else is experiencing the problem. I was on FB when all of a sudden...

If I am right, you might (unknowingly) have pressed the short keys to Zoom-in the Screen view of your browser. To restore it, simply press "Ctrl" + "0" (press ctrl and 0 simultaneously) on the keyboard, That'll restore the screen view to default. If you want to zoom in press "ctrl" + "+" or if you want to zoom-out press "ctrl" + "-".

Good luck.

Press Ctrl+0 (control + zero) on the keyboard, that will bring back to normal view. You can also try Ctr+ + (control + Plus) zoom-in
and Ctrl+ - (control + Minus) zoom-out.

Good luck.

4.14.1 Understanding Viewing Features
Your LCD HDTV features four viewing modes and Picture-In-Picture (PIP)/Picture-by-Picture (POP) mode.
You can switch viewing modes using the remote control.
4.14.2 Viewing Modes
Normal Mode
The original 4:3 aspect ratio (1.33:1 source) is preserved, so black bars are
added to the left and right of the display image. Standard TV broadcasts are
displayed with a 4:3 Aspect Ratio. Movies in 4:3 Aspect Ratio may be referred
to as pan-and-scan or full frame. These movies were originally filmed in 16:9
(widescreen), and then modified to fit a traditional TV screen (4:3).
Wide Mode
When watching a standard broadcast or full-frame movie in this mode,
the display image is stretched proportionately to fill the TV screen.
When watching a widescreen (1.78:1 source) program or movie, the
display image fills the TV screen. If you are watching a widescreen
(1.85:1 or 2.35:1 source) program or movie, there will still be black
bars at the top and bottom.
Zoom Mode
When watching a widescreen (1.78:1, 1.85:1, or 2.35:1 source)
program or movie, the display image is zoomed proportionally to fill the
width of the screen. The top and bottom are cut off to remove most of
the source material’s black bars. This mode is good for programs or
movies with sub-titles.
Panoramic Mode
When watching a standard broadcast or full frame movie in this mode,
the 4:3 Aspect Ratio (1.33:1 source) display image is stretched
horizontally on the left and right sides to fill the TV screen. The center
of the image is not stretched.

Note: Viewing modes are saved based on input. For example, you lasted watched a DVD in widescreen
mode and then watched TV in standard mode. When you switch back to DVD input, the viewing mode
will return to widescreen.
