Question about 1974 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow Antenna, 74 Rolls Royce
Certainly. The squealing is the power steering belt, and it is slipping. If you tighten it, and it still squeals, it is worn out and must be replaced. The belt should be tight enough that pushing on it with your finger will barely cause it to deflect.
Please take a really good light and look at the inside of the belt, and look for cracks. If there are cracks, you will need to replace the belt. However, a belt can also be no good if it has no cracks, and that is if it is too old. Most belts have a life of around 5 years, some go as far as 10, depending on the use of the car and what kind of weather you have.
