Sounds like debris in your cooling fan. Try vacuuming the open grills and see if the click goes away. This is usually caused by something sucked into the fan and clicking, like clothespinning playing cards to your bicycle spokes to make a motor sound as a kid. Since the fan is the only moving part in a laptop this is with 99% certainty the problem and the only way to fix it is to remove the offending debris.

Sounds like the Sound Card is faulty if it can't be detected all the time. I would say to return that sound card and get another one of the same make and model. If it does the same thing then you know that sound card is not compatible with your moterboard, at that point I would try looking for updates for that sound card to see if there are any fixes for it.

If the new one is recognized and works fine then you know the original one is faulty. Also try that sound card on another computer to verify if its a motherboard issue. It might work fine on another computer.

The sound work intermittenly. Is there a fix

Hi janet82with the sound working intermittently there are some things we can do goingthrough the menus. The first thing you will want to do is press the buttons ofMENU-6-1-1 on the remote. Then you will want to press the Check Switch and theTest buttons. After the test has completed you will exit out of all menus andallow the receiver to reset and acquire the signal and after the guidedownloads the intermittent signal will be cleared up.

Finding the sound card and cable

Does your pc have a sound card?
Or do you have a sound card but havnt fixed it in the pc?

To fix the sound card, do the following.
1)Open your system unit.
inside the system unit, you will see two types of slots, long and short slots. the long one are about four and may one or two of them may have cards inserted in them (RAM chips), ignore these slots.

2)Looks at the short slots, they have bigger cards, (network, graphics..) insert the card into one of these slots, then screw it, not so tightly though, to prevent damage to the card. You may also be required to break an opening in the back of your system unit case to expose the front of the sound card.

The front of the sound card contains three ports, marked blue, pink and green.
The aux goes into the gree port

To determine if the LCD screen is faulty ot the video card, connect an external monitor to the laptop's video port. Power up the external monitor first and the boot up the laptop. The video image should automatically switch to the external monitor. If you don't get flashes on the monitor then the video card is OK and the fault lies with the LCD screen. Flashes coud be caused by a faulty inverter or a faulty CCFL lamp. A fault is usually easier to diagnose when it is not intermitten.

You will need to re-install your sound card drivers, which you will find on disk 1 of the system disks. you may also find that after a couple of start ups that the sound goes off again, I fixed this problem when I added more memory. good luck.
