Is that any specified smps to be used for mother board

Depends on the age of the motherboard.

To clarify;

When Switched-Mode Power Supply's were first made for personal computers, for the main power cable they used two of them.
This was the AT power supply.

http://www.playtool.com/pages/psuconnectors/connectors.html#oldpc

The next version of the SMPS used a single main power cable, the ATX power supply.

http://www.playtool.com/pages/psuconnectors/connectors.html#atxmain20

As personal computers increased in Processor power, and graphics power, it was found that more power to the motherboard was needed. The ATX main power cable was increased from 20-pin to 24-pin, to handle the extra load,

http://www.playtool.com/pages/psuconnectors/connectors.html#atxmain24

A lot of motherboards also receive extra power through a 4-pin ATX +12 Volt power cable,

http://www.playtool.com/pages/psuconnectors/connectors.html#atx12v4

This power cable is used for power to the Processor.

Power Supply's (SMPS) have increased in power over the years to keep up with the demand for power.
They have also increased the number, and type of power cables used.

Some now have an extra 6-pin PCI Express power cable for added power to a graphics card, or two 6-pin PCI Express power cables.

Some SMPS's have an 8-pin PCI Express power cable for added power to a graphics card.

http://www.playtool.com/pages/psuconnectors/connectors.html#pciexpress8

If an SMPS has an 8-pin EPS +12 Volt power cable, it is used for added power to the motherboard, for the Processor.

http://www.playtool.com/pages/psuconnectors/connectors.html#eps8

If your concern is how much power can your motherboard handle, know this;

A computer ONLY uses the power it needs, and NO more.

If you had a 10,000 Watt power supply, and the computer only needs 100 Watts, the computer only uses 100 Watts. (10,000 Watts is an exaggeration)

Do you know the motherboard's name, and Model Number?
State in a Comment, and I should be able to tell you what power cables it needs, and give examples of an SMPS that will work.

SMPS,

How to use ATX-250-12z SMPS with 24 pin

Chances are that 250w power supply is not going to power a motherboard with a 24 pin connector, but you can try.
You will need to purchase a 20 to 24 pin adapter cable.

Dell smps ps-5141-2d pin layout

145 watt smps was shipped in very very old computers, its not manufactured any more. how ever you may still want to try for best buy. 1% chance you may get it. i searched everywhere its images are not avilable. the pin layout inside and outside is the same. as in 180 or 200 watt smps. repairing is not a good option. get it replaced if its okay with you. please tell me the system model number or service tag so i can look for alternative smps for your computer. thanks.

Hmmm.... mainly you have:
-20 or 24-pins connector, that is unique and goes directly to motherboard (powers motherboard and its components)
-4 or 8-pins connector that powers CPU
-the rest would be connectors for ROM (CD/DVD/BlueRay) and HDD devices (there are: molex and sata power conectors)

If you totaly unshure, there is manual:

No power

1. Please check with the power supply of pc from a/c plug. 2. if power supply is ok then ensure that the input poewer cord is at right position in behind of cpu. 3. If you are using old type power supply (which do not autumatically turned off by operating system) then there is problem with power switch or SMPS. 4. If you are using advance power management (generally used in now-a days computers which is automatically turned off by O.S., then there may be a problem with power pin that is connecting thae mother board and power button. Shut down your computer and open the cpu chasis and tighten the pin and ensure that it is properly inserted (the location of the pin is near hard disk lid pin, power lid pin). 5. If this pin is ok then check with pconnecting wire of pin and power button and also the power button. 6.Then turn the computer on. If it does not work then check the power connectors from SMPS to mother board are properly installed and inserted. 7. If power connector is ok then there is posssiblity of problem with your SMPS (power supply) of computer. 8.Generally due to heavy load of power and long usage the condensers of smps get mailfunctioned. Take the smps or computer to a local hardware expert.
