Since install of a new hard drive and OS/window display is wrong
New hard drive was installed as well as Vista. Now my display is all wrong. Some windows are tiny, cannot be enlarged. If I zoom enough to read, the page is so distorted. The display I had when from the factory cannot be found. I have had numerous calls to tech support, and they are unable to correct the issue. DPI adjustment, Font size adjustment, and zoom on each page by page are all things that the tech people have tried. Even downloaded the driver for the monitor and no help.
It wont copy and paste...tried a print screen and that wont work either. how much of this huge info do you need? I can type it if I know what you need...cuz there is lots! Thank you so much!

No, you won't get the OS to automatically install on the new drive. The OS is not stored in the BIOS chip (or a similar permanent location inside the computer). You will need an OS install disc (not an upgrade disc). Windows Vista Home Premium or Basic was the original OS on most of the Acer Aspire 4530 series. Acer appears to have drivers for the system for XP through Windows 7 to get the hardware to work. You will need to have these most of these ready before you install your OS. Put them on a flash drive or optical disc using another computer.
This computer may work with Unix as well. However, driver issues may be a factor. You can try most versions of Unix from a CD (LiveCD) to test it out.
When you get a new hard drive, install it into the laptop. Then put the OS disk in the optical drive bay. Boot to the optical drive. Follow the directions for formatting the hard drive and installing the OS. (Of course you will need a drive that doesn't have a higher capacity than the BIOS supports.) The motherboard needs to recognize the drive.
If you find a member of a Windows User Group, they may have Windows install discs available. The license number on the label of your computer will probably work as your license key. (The key for a computer like this is locked to the CPU and motherboard; unless someone upgraded the OS to Windows 7 or downgraded to XP, this should be the key you need.) Use the information on the label to obtain the correct version of Vista (the Basic install disc may not work for installing Home Premium). You also need to match the 32-bit or 64-bit install disc (and the service pack you need).
I hope this helps.
Cindy Wells (An Acer recovery disc wouldn't help you. Most of those are completely locked to the original hardware (including hard drive) and look for the recovery partition that was on that hard drive.)
You need to install a OS disk (operating system disk) ie windows xp / vista / 7.
When buying a new harddrive, they are blank (No OS on them / nothing)
Place your OS into the disk drive and keep hold of power button until notebook powers off.
Turn back on your notebook while disk incerted and follow the simple instructions given to you via the OS disk
Usual reason for blue screen after OS install is corrupted OS. It might have missed a file while installing or cd had a smudge or scratch on it. It rare occasions it can be hard drive it self. I would try to reload the OS but make sure CD is clean of dirt and scratches. Most times this will resolve issue. Also if you are installing higher version of OS on a pc that had Hardware that does not support new OS version. Like going from XP to Windows Vista or Windows 7. Sometimes you just cant upgrade even by doing new install since not all computer hardware is compatible with new OS. Some manufactures do this so you have to by new computer in order to get new Windows version. Hope this helps.
When installing XP or Vista you get the option to load third party drivers for unknown devices. I think it's F6 just after the start of any version of Windows, once you press this you will have to supply the drivers for the Windows installation. This will make Windows recognise the hdd from then on.
try formatting your laptop again with vista O.S. but dont install anti virus after installing it because there might be some conflict with the anti virus you installed with the O.S.
Your hard drive may need reseating.
If it still gives error hard disk not found then you have a faulty hard drive.
You need a new hard drive and then install Windows Vista
There is likely a reason that you are re-installing a OS.
Your HD is Dead.
You should buy a new Hard Drive and install the OS on that.
Another option would be ,.. you have other OS's that were not properly installed and the hard drive is telling you that there is a prob like a F6 driver issue.
Depends on what OS was installed on it to begin with.
How would I be able to determine that?
