Playback Problems When playing back footage, screen wide horizontal blocks appear on the screen. I think it has something to do with setting the recording speed to LP which I must have done without realising. When I record and playback in SP it's fine I've got some footage I realy want to keep; does anyone know how I can get it onto my PC and actually watch it normally? I am conneted with firewire and everything works ok, I get the same results as above once downloaded though. Again downloads SP fine. Is there a special format I need to use when downloading? All help most gratefully received Carl

Tried a cleaning cassette, but still have the same problem!!! also noticed the following:-
During playback, I have the screen wide horizontal blocks appear, what I actually recorded is playing between them with intermittent sound. However, the horizontal blocks show a picture through the lens with the lens cap on. I can see the distintive oval shape inside the lens cap!!! Every now and then, RO:56 appears just below the top left corner.
    Any information gratefully received.

    Thanks

    Carl

Playback STD Locked Playback is Restricted message

the tape most likely has the lock switched on, it's secured so no one can even view it, why it happend, beats me, look at the bottom of the tape, if it has the lock switch, and is pushed up to "lock" push it back down, if  that doesn't work than I'm not sure, sorry.
hope this helped- snowsurfer58

You better take in to get it serviced. It could be the take motor or a head adjustment needed.

Playback

Hello, after the cleaning try to record and then check the new recordings. If there is no change (3 wide bands still present) the video head is malfunctioning. The part number is: A7048938A Best regards, Arpi

Wide Horizontal lines on playback

Wide bands in the playback video indicate a clogged or defective video head assembly. If your cleaning tape appears to resolve the problem, the heads are getting contaminated. I would not use the same tape in this unit. Try cleaning the heads and then use a brand new tape to avoid clogging the drum assy again. If this does not resolve the problem, the drum assembly will have to be replaced. Hope this helps. Joe Weibel customelectronics.org
