Question about Samsung SD 616E (729507925578) Internal DVD Drive
When I press the open button, nothing happens. The light flashes on and off sometimes, as if maybe it's TRYING to do something, but the drive just won't open. I tried ejecting it from My Computer. I tried disabling and enabling it in the Device Manager. I tried updating the driver. I even turned off the drive in the set-up screen when the computer was booting up. Note, my DVD-RW drive is working just fine, but there IS a problem with one of my RAID drives. I have two 150gb drives, but unfortunately I don't really understand how a RAID volume works and am afraid to change any settings. I wouldn't even think that'd have anything to do with my DVD-ROM, but I thought it might be useful for you to know. PC is a Dell Dimension 8400 running Vista 32mb. I would greatly appreciate any advice. Best, Joe
Hi joe your dvd rom is stuck for some reason it's definately not software all cd/dvd drive got a little hole in the front for an emergency and it looks like you gonna need to use that to force the drive open all you need is a paper clip or a really small screwdriver put it in the little hole and push your drive should open. i would just replace it as the are going really cheap hope i was of some kind of help to you regards

I have the same problem, and what I do is i go to My Computer and right click on the drive. This magically opens the DVD-Rom for me, and I dont need to pry my CPU open to get it out. Hope this helps!
