Batteries all powered up, pull the trigger and ...nothing. Trigger was hard to pull, when unstuck, drill wouldn't operate from that point forward. Any quick fix??
I have the same problem of no trigger movement after I picked up my 691220 Kawasaki 21.6V drill from my son's house. I am an industrial engineer and problem solver. I decided because I was attached to this drill that I would disassemble the drill and fix the stuck trigger/switch. After figuring how to disassemble the drill housing I found that the trigger/switch had shorted and melted the switch housing putting the trigger in a bind. The only fix will be to replace the switch assembly. I will call the Service number 1-800-590-3723 and determine if they will send me the switch/trigger assembly 13MAR2009. Reading the other posts I am surprised there has not been a recall on the drill and not just some of the chargers. Tim Lechtenberg lechtet@yahoo.com
Hi Tim, Sounds like you got it figured out! The only question I see is if there is a quick fix, and it looks like you answered your own question. You can certainly pursue requesting that it be fixed as a manufacturing defect/ faulty part, or even a safety hazard as that is your right. While I can not suggest you take that route, the old metaphor of the sparking trigger that melted in my hand always seemed to get a lot of attention. Good Luck to you, hope this Fixsya!

Hello. My DC728 drills keyless chuck took a dive. I had no choice but in removing all of the plastic as well as the 3 jaws and misc spacers. Yes, I did remove the main/lock screw from the shaft arbor, however I cannot remove the chuck body itself.. I have wedged 8'' long screwdriver shafts into the chuck perpendicular to the drill and proceeded to whack the leverage mechanism both counter and clockwise...Which way should I be hitting it? I cannot budge the unit...Does Dewalt use locktite on the threaded arbor shaft? Do you have any other suggestions? I have hit the leverage mechanism so hard in both directions that I can actually get the drills transmission/gears to skip...which I know is not good...I have tried everything but heat... Thanks, Mike

screwed 75 2 1/2 inch deck screws worked great, came back the next morning and zip doesn't work.... called the service number he said I over worked the drill and burnt the trigger up. sounds like bs to me but he said they would send a new trigger out for $15.00. does it pay to fix a problem of theirs????
