How old is the unit? If it's a few years old, you might have some failing electrolytic capacitors in the power supply and/or ballast circuit. Usually a visual inspection is all that's needed. Just look for capacitors that are 'swollen,' or have goop either oozing from the top, or leaking from the bottom.
