Question about Kodak EasyShare C913 Digital Camera

1 Answer

It does not take pictures or videos when pressing the shutter button

My Easyshare C913 turns on normaly and all the funtions seem to work properly (mode selector, flash, display, review, delete, menues...) but IT DOES NOT TAKE PICTURES or videos when I press the shutter button as I always did. BUT, if I keep the shutter button pressed while turning the camera on, then it will take 1 or 2 photos. I tried with different sets of batteries and with/without the SD memory card. I also formatted the memory. It does not have a reset option in the menu... It's a Kodak Easyshare C913, firmware version 1.0 How can I solve this problem and take pictures normally again? Thanks in advance for your help...

May be you had placed the card wrong and inside the pin got pressed and only inner memory is getting used which gives less pic. due to less mb inner memory

Testimonial: "Thanks for your answer, but it's not a memory issue (when there`s not enough memory to store a photo, the camera displays a "memory full" error). I tried with and without the SD memory card. I also formatted the built-in memory. I can take pictures if I keep the shutter button pressed while turning the camera on, so I don't think it is a button or contact issue either... Thanks again!"

Hi Tanya

It sounds like something was corrupted when you transferred your pictures to the computer.

If you have all the pictures safely on your computer, it will be ok to reformat the memory card and then just copy and paste the pictures back to the card.

Insert the card in your card reader, go to My Computer, you should be able to see the card as a removable drive. You can click and open it just like a folder and see what is on the card.

I would also back up the pictures to an external drive or dvd so they are extra safe!

SOURCE: kodak easyshare c613: memory card says its full

If you connected the camera to the computer with a USB cord to download your pics and then just yanked out the cord without using the "safely remove hardware" icon at the bottom right corner of your screen, the card may have been corrupted. Replace it.

SOURCE: black screen when i turn camera on have changed

A stuck shutter is another common failure mode for digital cameras. The symptoms of a stuck or "sticky" shutter are very similar to CCD image sensor failure. The camera may take black pictures (for shutter stuck closed), or the pictures may be very bright and overexposed, sometimes with lines, especially when taken outdoors (for shutter stuck open). To confirm a stuck shutter, put the camera in any mode other than "Auto", and turn the flash OFF (you don't want to blind yourself for the next step). Next look down the lens and take a picture. You should see a tiny flicker in the center of the lens as the shutter opens and closes. If no movement is seen, then you likely have a stuck shutter. If so, please see this link for further info and a simple fix that may help.

Self - Timer - setup!

Hello,

The manual is a little vague. I'll try to get you going.

1. After turning it on, press the Menu button.
2. Press the up/down arrow buttons until you see the listing for self timer. Press OK.
3. You will need the 10-second option. I'm not certain here whether you need to use the arrows again to choose it, and then press OK again.
4. This should put up a tiny clock icon on the review screen.
5. Set up the camera where you want it, on a tripod or level surface.
6. Press the shutter button. When you do a small LED will blink on the front of the camera. With 2 or 3 seconds left it will blink faster. SMILE!

Just for reference, here is a link to the manual:

Kodak C913 Manual

See pages i, 11, and 24.

Hope this helps. Thanks for using Fixya.

My camera fell in the sand while we were honeymooning in Maui now my photos has lines in the pictures, when i take picture the screen goes white

first of all congrats, ok the problem was inside of the lens unit maybe the goes inside of the lens gear thats why the shutter not work properly or blocking the movement of the said shutter parts.if you can open and clean inside parts of the lens its better if not just bring to service center and request for cleaning.

thank you

Why won't some of my photos transfer to the picture files? These photos are treated as if they are duplicates which they aren't.

I spoke to someone on the IM chat at the kodak website, and took me through the steps that seems to get around that problem, if its a kodak c913. they are; open the easyshare software. connect your camera. if a transfer window opens automatically, close it. in the easyshare software window open the 'add picture button'. then select the folder with the name of your camera 'kodak c913'. all your pictures should load as if it would through the automatic transfer window, select whatever pictures you want to add, clock add pictures, then done, and it doesnt come up with the error message of the software believing there is duplicates.

Why doesn't the shutter button on my EasyShare digital camera work?

The cause and solution may include one of the following: The camera is not turned on. Turn on the camera. The camera is processing a picture; the camera Power ring light (on the Mode dial) blinks green. Wait until the light stops blinking before taking another picture. The card or internal memory is full. Transfer pictures to the computer, delete pictures from the camera, switch storage locations, or insert a memory card with available memory. The shutter button was not pressed. Depress the shutter button completely down. There was a failure in the focus and/or exposure. Press the shutter button halfway to set the Auto Focus (AF) and Auto Exposure (AE). When the AF/AE indicator turns green, press the shutter button completely down. The battery is exhausted. Replace or recharge the battery
