Touchpad not working (intermittent)

Touchpad works on odd-numbered days, but not even numbered days. I kid you not. Works one day and not the next. Bizarre.

Sounds like a loose connection? Has there been any damage? Do you shut down and unplug everyday?

SOURCE: Problems with keyboard/touchpad

here what you need to do, disable your keyboard/touchpad because its grounded and soon will not usable anymore... due to this problem, you can use USB keyboard but if you can find the same replacement on it... buy it. Good luck!

SOURCE: Touchpad has no tap, left key not working.

Hi there,
I had this issue and resolved it by doing the following:
-Open the start menu by using the windows button
-Use the arrow keys to highlight run and press enter
-Type 'control panel' and press enter, find the mouse properties and enter
-From the buttons tab in mouse properties, go to double click speed and change to slow and confirm the changes
-At this point it probably still wont work, so do the above again but change the double click settings to fast and confirm.
-Restart your PC and this should resolve the matter. you can alter the double click speed again if you wish :)

Hope this helps,
tbo

The keypad very well could be worn from use and be working intermittently. Replacing the keypad (and the keypad face if it is a separate piece) is the most logical solution.

Download and reinstall the touchpad drivers.

Get onlineand got to www.google.com In the google search box type: "HPSupport" (without the quotes and put your manufacturer name before Support). Look for downloads and drivers. Enter your model number and operatingsystem when requested. Download and install the Touchpad drivers.

Dell Inspiron N5040 touchpad not working while charging

If battery works and ac adapter has problems that means electrolytic capacitors maybe dried up(not supplying the current needed to run the laptop) and has to be cured by using the laptop more often.

Touchpad is jerky, not smooth like it used to be.

Try touching the case of the A/C adapter to a metal part on the computer casing.
If the condition improves, you have a grounding issue with the power adapter.

Touchpad and keypad problem

if it does'nt work at all, use a usb mouse to do this proceedure.

Go to my computer, right click>properties>hardware tab>device manager, then look down the list for mice and pointing devices, click the '+' sign and right click on your touchpad and select uninstall, do the same on the keyboard line and then restart the pc, remove usb mouse.

Both touchpad and keyboard will be reinstalled and then ready to use again

Touchpad problem

Working then not the working again is hardware failure not driver issues. This generally indicates that it's failing and will need replaced. With driver issues it either works or it doesn't, there's no in between.
