Question about GE PSS26NSWSS Profile 25.5 Cu. Ft. Stainless Side-by-Side Refrigerator
The refrigerator is working properly. How do I fix this? The LED lights will turn on but turn off after a few minutes
Can you provide the model number found somewhere around the fresh food section door? When you say LED lights it call to mind the GE Monogram but it does not have LED lighting. Here is a link to that Service Manual HERE I need your correct model number to look up the wiring diagram. From looking over other diagrams the problem could be a bad door switch, loose connection or a defective relay on the motherboard. I will be here to answer any questions, Thanks Sea Breeze

for a very informative video on trouble shooting your refrigerator http://gei.portals.streamos.com/cc/channel.php?emcid=1416&empid=4533&packageid=0000
I had the problem with no water or ice dispenced and the lights dim when dispencer is used and the refrigerator compresser stops after using the dispencer and had to unplug and reset unit. GE DID NOT WARANTY IT. I bought a new motherboard for about $88 and fixed my problem. As the video shows there can be other problems that will cause some of these symptoms but not all at once. My frige was only 2 years old when this happened.

In side by sides if the fridge side not working correctly it means that the air vent from the freezing unit has stuck in the closed position which causes the fridge to not be any where near as cool as it should be and if it is too cold then the vent is stuck in the open position. The vent is controlled by a small sync motor and either the motor has become faulty, the control module is faulty or the vent is iced up, which can be caused by putting too many hot items in the fridge so the steam condenses and freezes the vent in position and then the motor cannot open or close it causing it and / or the control module to become faulty. Other times it is just old age that causes the motor and / or the control module to fail. Best call a service engineer asap.

SOURCE: My lights went out today for a few minutes, now my refrigerator is not working properly. The lights are on but the ice maker or water is not working and its not getting cold. What could be the problem
It sounds like your motherboard=> WR55X10942 took a hit from a surge. Unplug for a while and replug and see if compressor will come on. If not then unplug and pull away from wall, remove panel covering motherboard and carefull examine both side of motherboard for burn marks and melted solder. If you would like me to give full details of how and what to replace please ask. You model is known for being tricky to repair and asking for assistance would be a good idea if you plan to do this yourself, Thanks Sea Breeze
