All audible sounds have recently stopped working

Just last week I found that the audible sounds on my i5 have stopped working. I tried reseting the unit and changing the batteries. At one point there was some sound but is was to garbled to understand. I am at a loss as to what I could do to fix this problem, if it is even fixable. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Frank

The streetpilot i5 does not have a headphone jack. Thanks for trying.

I looked the unit over and all I see is an opening for the usb cord, an external antenna and a micro-sd card slot. The volume controls are done through a menu system. Maybe the i2 or i3 has a sound output, but I can not find on on this unit. Does the specs say where it could be located?

It seems like the sound is trying to work, but it is very distorted, the dinging sound is very muddy and the words are hard to understand. I checked with Garmin and they want $150.00 to fix it. For another $100.00 I can buy a new C330.

Apologies, There is two voices on that machine ( apparently, LOL) Is it both that are playing up? ( Direction & Street name ) It seems more common that the street name voice gets garbled. I guess you are out of warranty. There seems to be a few of these getting returned and replaced so it may be worth emailing the manufacturer and see if they will offer to replace it anyway. The sound output I mentioned was an external speaker socket in a post I can't find back. That is what I was confused about.

I would have a look at the earphone socket. There is a small switch inside the socket that is designed to mute the built in sound when the headset is in. If there is some dust or damage in the socket, or the jack is bent, you will have sound problems. Try blowing the socket out, and rotating the headphone jack in the socket to determine if that is what it is. Depending on your confidence, you could attempt to dismantle it yourself and repair/replace the socket.

You do have a sound output though don't you?
I read in the specs that it does, so please let me know.
What I should have said is any sound output related plugs.

If it's a new model you should send it back.
If it's not then it sounds like the thing that does all the work has gone. It will be found on a heat sink. Try replacing that.

My alarm does not make any sound when it goes off, it vibrates but no audible alarm. Just stopped working a day ago, worked for the first two weeks I had the phone.

there may be a bug where the alarm volume resets itself to silent when your turn the phone off and back on.

just go back to the alarm tones list and adjust the volume back up. see if this works for you.

try plugging it in to the usb port on your computer, then if it starts, install the batteries.

if you did not get a usb cord with your gps, pretty much any usb to mini usb cord will work.

Blackberry 8310 will not ring audibly

To try fixing the mp3 sound, try to play a mp3 file, and toggle the "mute" button on top of the phone. Also try to press the "speaker phone" key (the one with $ sign)

For the audio rings, try to reset the phone by taking the battery out for 1 min then put it back in.

Hope this help.

My garmin i5 doesn't know where it is +

I would suggest that you return it to Garmin since it's still under warranty. My Garmin i5 will NOT operate on just batteries. This unit is also under warranty. Also, the suction cup mount fails to hold onto the windshield. I've been concerned about how many people seem to have problems with these units.
