Question about Honeywell TH5110D1022 Focus PRO 5000 Thermostat, Digital 1H/1C, Large

1 Answer

Thermostat We live in SC. Weather nice, so shut off unit...after a while, unit will begin to blow cool air from floor into home, even by an open window? We have changed filter. The air conditioning works and regulates whenever we use it...this problem only happens whenever we shut off the whole system?

Add a comment and describe brand, type and model of product. And what this product does. Is this a thermostat?
Also say if this is new installation or older installation
If you have Honeywell thermostat, then model number and AA battery are located on back of device. Replace battery.
Web search your model number and include .pdf in search parameter to obtain product manual, Use Ctrl+f to word-search manual for troubleshoot section. And view manual for illustrations showing location of battery.

Electric water heater stopped working

The unit doesn't like to drain without air coming in on top of water, so flushing with pressure applied is the preferred way. Be careful, see if you have power coming into unit. Turn off power and open the connection connection plate I would suspect that if the breaker is supplying power, sometime I have found that the connections are not properly made.. . If you a timer to limit operational hours take it out and go directly to romex from breaker panel.I f water starts hot and then go cool very quickly the bottom heating element and or thermostat is not working. Remove lower element cover and with power off check element resistance you can compare upper and lower element readings. From experience I never repair water heaters: time and material is more than new unit. You will need to buy element socket heating element(s) and or thermostat(s). In the end you still and old water heater.

Hi i have a wireless room thermostat i wish to fit to my potterton boiler can anyone advise me thanks

in general-
wireless thermo has 2 units - room thermo and furnace rcvr.
if thermo is battery powered no wires to connect - if not needs 24V connected - then why do they call it wireless?
rcvr connects to same 4 wires as current therm except at the furnace - 24v power and 2 control lines
I can't remember the color code except red/black is +24v/common
but I have found them messed up by "professional" installers so u need to verify before connecting or go by the terminal labeling.

Our hot water will last for about 5- 10 minutes then turn luke warm. I have replaced both elements but problem remains . Do you hink it is the thermostat ? thanks chazz

If you have not done so already then turn thermostats up to 140 degrees. You may also try to drain and flush tank to clean out any mineral deposits that could be hurting your effiency. To do this shut off electrical power to heater then connect garden hose to drain valve on the bottom of tank. Run hose to floor drain or other safe area and open drain valve. If it drains good with the water on then let it flush for a couple of mins. then shut incoming water supply off. Let tank drain as far as it will. You may need to open a faucet on the hot side of nearby fixture to break vacumn.
Drain it completly then close drain valve and hot side of faucet.Turn water supply back on and let tank refill. Do this 2-3 times to get inside of tank as clean as possible. Hope this helps you and thanks. P.S. You may need to replace thermostat also.

I no hot water coming out. Have power to water heater.

Electric water heater is not making hot water.

That gives 4 suspects.

1) Breaker is not delivering 240V to water heater on both legs.

2) Upper thermostat ECO reset button has tripped. Open top cover and push in reset button. Put insulation and cover back so thermostat not exposed to cooler air. If problem persists, replace both thermostats.

3) Upper element is bad. If upper element goes bad, the tank will not have any hot water, even if lower element is good.

Sounds like a tripped reset button:
Photo below shows typical generic upper thermostat.
Open top cover on water heater, and push in red reset button.
Power is live on the terminals, so use wood stick and push reset inward very hard.
Put insulation and covers back over thermostat when finished to avoid cool air from influencing thermostat.
Reset as many times as you want, no harm is being done to heater.

You probably have a bad thermostat.
I suggest replacing both upper and lower thermostats for $28:

Ordinary tank-type electric water heater is fully repairable by homeowner without needing service technician. Use simple tools and generic parts from hardware-store.
Get started with link above. There are more links that show on same page, and you can read those if needed or whenever you want to work on water heater.

No hot water at all

1. Check and see if the thermostats are getting power.
Remove cover (access Door) Test the leads for power
2. If there is power at the thermostats try hitting the reset button on the top thermostat
3 Check and see if there is power at the element
4. To tune up your water heater is an easy job ... You can buy thermostats for less than 15 bucks and elements cost 8 dollars at lowes or home depot. Remember to kill the power when working on the unit. It is 220V It will kill you !

Disco Power

Remove wires to Elements ( Remember to match the amps on the elements !) If they are 3500 replace with 3500 etc.
take a wrench and remove elements and install new.
next replace the thermostats wire exactly as you see them

This project costs 30 dollars and makes your water heater new again !
DO NOT TURN POWER ON BEFORE THE TANK IS FILLED

Open the faucets in the house when they quite blowing air the tank is full !

Good Day,

Most dual element water heaters do not run both elements at once, so it is common to get 0 VAC at the bottom. It will not kick in untill the upper thermostat tells it to. The most common cause for a new element to blow like you describe is dry fire. Make sure you open the tap and or t&p and bleed all the air out of the tank before hitting the power. Hope this helps.

Rheem power vent water heater shut down due to toxic vapour

Are you getting an error code? I could just be the pressure switch on the unit not allowing it to come on. You can try removing the hose from the inducer and blowing into and drawing air in and out of the tube. You will hear a clicking noise when you do this. Reattach the hose and try the system. Also, you have to unplug the unit for at least 10 minutes and then plug it back in to reset the controls. If the "Guardian" system still senses the fumes, it will not allow the unit to kick on. I could be awhile for the fumes to disapate before it will work. Try putting a low volume fan on the base of the unit to try and keep fresh air moving around the "Guardian" sensor.
