SOURCE: windows vista activation problem
if you purchase the software all you have to do is call microsoft and have them give you a new key. If you use a crack it will only last till microsoft sends an update to fix the crack then your back at square one.

I Agree completely that you should remove what you need and reinstall. Before you do go to the acer site in UK or US and download all of the drivers you need for reinstall. If you use a normal Vista disc for the installation insted of a recovery partition or disc you should hopefully avoid all these conflicts. Running Vista i assume its very new, so if a clean copy doesnt work then take it back on a warranty repair because you could have hardware issues. Good Luck

SOURCE: Device Manager is blank
Somehow you've lost at least one dll file that Vista needs to load. This could be due to a bad sector on your hard drive, or something like a virus might have maliciously removed it.
The first thing I would try is to repair your Vista installation from the install CD. Boot from it, follow the prompts, and it will re-copy all of the essential system files. Reboot after the repair, and anything that was missing should now be there.
In any case, let me know how it goes.

SOURCE: AVG Free install fails
I had similar problems with AVG, and switched to AVAST home edition (free). www.download.com has avast home and all you have to do is supply them with your email address so they can send you the yearly registration key. Avast handles maleware as well as virus protection. Avast automatically updates and supplies the customer with quality maleware / virus protection at no cost to the consumer. No I do not work for Avast. I'm a medically retired technician. Download the program and install it, the problem with AVG goes away! The real problem I believe has something to do with the SP 1, 2. 3, (or all of them) and it stops AVG from reinstalling. Note the Avast home is free for home use, not business use. They do have a professional program that costs you to use, just like AVG.
