Transistor equivalent The TV (Chinese) that im repairing keeps on blowing the diodes (bridge rectifier) and when checking i found that they have used a C5148 transistor for chooping purpose, i thought its used for Horizontal deflection. I do have a D5287 transistor and i was wondering if it could be used instead.

This is a suzuki king quad lt 300 atv. blows main power fuse when the regulator is plugged in and the switch off.unplug regulator and fuse don't blow.

This is easy - replace your regulator. You probably have one or more shorted diodes (or transistors) in the regulator and/or the bridge rectifier between the alternator and the battery.

Diodes 'convert' AC made by an alternator into "DC" used by the battery. It does this by clipping off one-half of the power cycle. You can check a diode for proper operation using a flash light battery, a flash light lamp and a short piece of wire. A normal diode will let current pass in only one direction - the light will light when wired one way and not light when reversed. If it lights in both directions, the diode is bad. I dont know how to test a transistor. The repair in either case is replacement of the part. You cannot change a diode or a transistor in either component. If the part is obsolete, you may have to have a part built by an electronics technician.

Good luck with your repair and thanks for your interest in FixYa.com

After I put a fuse in the player, and plug into wall, the fuse immediately blows.

Hi,
Your fuse blown again because you have a short on the circuit. You may visit my link http://www.fixya.com/support/r8053361-fuse_keeps_blowing for more info.
I've suspect that you have short on rectifier diode/main filter capacitor/regulator IC/transistor. This is quite fixable.
Hope it may help you.
Thanks for using fixya.

Keeps on blowing fuse

Hello
If fuse blows off repetedly, it shows that there is a direct short inside the power supply section. You just check the mains rectifier diodes for short. iIf a rectifier stack is used desolder it out and check for short. In some sansui sets, ther is a metal oxide variste connected across the supply line inside directly. It is for line spike suppression and an overvoltage protection. If any of the above appears on the power line, the varistor will get shorted, and the fuse will go out, to prevent further damage to the circuits. Check that varistor for short. Check the resistance across main filter capacitor for any direct short. If it seems shorted, check the switching transistor for collectror to emitter leak, Resolder it out and check. These are the main reasons for blowing fuse. If the switching transistor has got leaked, you must check the entire SMPS control section, especially in case of used zener diodes, before replaceing a new transistor. OK.
If you wants anu further assistance, inform me through Fixya. Ok.

If the fuse blows again after replacing it, there's a shorted diode, bridge rectifier, capacitor or transistor in the power supply.
I repair these power supplies. If you need furhter assistance, write to jah2mil@hotmail.com

Timer

firstly check your sleeping timer set ups. if that is okey, then check the following
the power supply components eg
power transistor on the power supply lekage
zener diodes, power diodes of the bridge rectifier.
in short the supply is drowing to much current, hence semiconductors are heating up and reach a cutoff point, and saturates
