I have an WDG1NC10000N (Western Digital My Book World Edition 1TB) that was connected fine to my network. Not sure when it stopped being connected, don't access it all the time, but it became complete...

check the 'entire network' sidebar in My Network Places. I installed a new version of Mionet a little while back and it decided to rename my WorldBook and change it to a different network Workgroup without asking me. I freaked out for two days until I saw the other workgroup listed and checked it out. Viola, there was my NAS just waiting for me to find it.

Mybookworld is not visible in mionet

Give up. I've had Mionet for over a year, and I have not been able to reliably access it remotely using Mionet, even on a 32-bit system. Mionet is finally advertising a 64-bit system, yet it still doesn't work--the drive shows "offline". Advice from Mionet in my many attempts to get support says to reset the hard drive--kinda hard when you're away on vacation. Even using Mionet web doesn't work reliably. In the end, the many, many chances I've given Mionet and Western Digital support to fix this have only resulted in frustration, delays, and ineffective advice. Overall, Western Digital has failed to produce a product that's remotely accessible, and you're left with a local-access-only outboard hard drive.

I can't access my drive through mionet. My son accidently unplugged the world book and I can't access it ever since. Should I reinstall the mionet. I can't remember if there were any installation CD that...

Once the My Book World has been plugged back in, it will request a new IP from the Router. If the drive was unplugged accidentally, the ethernet cable may have also been knocked loose: make sure all cables are attached to the Router and the My Book World.

If your drive is still not appearing properly in MioNet, you can do a Hardware and Software reset on the drive. It will not affect your data, and it will allow you to re-attach the drive to your MioNet account. You do not need to reinstall MioNet to do this.\

1. Turn off My Book World
2. Identify the reset button on the back of My Book World
3. Depress the reset button while restarting My Book World
4. Keep the reset button depressed for about 10 seconds after you see blue lights on My Book World

You should now be able to sign in to the Shared Storage Manager as admin/123456.

5. Please open your web browsers and enter (without the quotes) "http://<IP address of My Book World>" or "http://mybookworld" in the address bar. The Shared Storage Manager web page will appear.
6. Once you have accessed the Western Digital Shared Storage Manager please select "General Setup" then choose "WD Anywhere Access settings." Use the default username of "admin" and default password of "123456" (without the quotes). On the following page you will have three buttons to select, please click on the "Reset" button. This will return the MioNet software on My Book World to default settings.
7. From within the MioNet Client, go to File > Remove Computer. Locate the My Book World (WDStorage, MyBookWorld, or whatever you named it) and remove it.
8. If you do not see a new window from MioNet informing you that you have a storage device available, "Scan for Cameras and New Devices…" to detect the unit.

Problems with Western Digital My Book World Edition

I have the same drive. It works great with windows XP but with Windows vista has difficulty seeing this type of drive and keeping the connection once it is established. Take it back if you have windows vista and then search for which 1TB drives work well with windows vista. It really has problems with windows vista 64bit. I was able to finally see the drive when I was using photoshop file/browse/network... then I dragged the shortcut Icon to my desktop and access the drive that way from that point on. Mine stopped completely tonight... I think the power cord went bad or something.

Mionet application doesn't show files in subfolders of shared folders

I believe you have a choice of using either the web interface or the desktop version of Mionet when you are on the same network (LAN), and as you mentioned both of you have no problem when you are on the same network as the NAS drive (MBWE) is.

When you are out of the local network where your NAS drive is, the only choice you would have is the web interface of Mionet. Eventhough you may have installed the desktop version of Mionet tool on a remote PC, I don't think you can access through that desktop tool. Sorry !!!

Mionet application does'nt open

Two things to consider:
1. make sure the drive is connected; you can do so by trying to browse the drive through the my computer network places, or by pinging to the drive's ip; meaning the drive must have to be connected and communicating to your pc
2. completely uninstall the Mionet desktop tool, restart the pc, and then reinstall the Mionet desktop tool.

good luck !!!
