I have just puchased the Sony DVP-FX810 and need to convert it to Region 4.

Is there a specific One for All remote you need to purchase in order for the suggested hack to work (ie brand and model)? My general univeral remote doesn't seem to sync with my sony.

I also read somewhere that the US version of the Sony us not hackable. Is this correct?

I tried the hack mentioned here with my Palm. I do not have a One4All Universal remote.
Is there another hack to unlock it?

You need to use a One4All Universal remote for regions 1 & 3 1. Switch on the player 2. Pop open the CD compartment 3. Enter the following code (using the remote): 2812 4. Highlight the region 5. Change to 9 (for Multi-region) using the 'Enter' button 6. Hit 'Clear' to exit

I live in Australia but i can not play some DVDs. Do I need and area code? what is the area code and how do I apply it to my samsung? Thanks Andrew

Some 'branded' DVD/Blue Ray players will not allow you to play DVD that are not 'coded' for the DVD player target country. As a rule, nothing to do with modern Television set.

If possible, you need to 'unlock' the player to be 'Zone free' ; just google your model with those key words ...

Might actually be easier to buy a cheap multi-zones/zone-free player ....

Hope it helps.

Panasonic dmr-eh57 multi-region unlock code

I sent an e-mail to Panasonic New Zealand to ask about this, and they advised:
"Panasonic NZ no longer pre set DVD recorders or players for all region multi-zones.
However, we will multi-zone for all regions on request. This needs to be done by an Authorised Service Centre, as a special service remote is used. Once delivered to one of these agents, the service company will charge the fee to Panasonic NZ."

If you're not in NZ, try contacting Panasonic in your own country. Just call up www.panasonic with your country code after eg. US = .com and NZ = .co.nz. It seems a *lot* easier than all those complicated hacks on the net. Now all I have to do is work out how to disconnect my DVD recorder again, and try to

PS. I realise this question is 11 months old by now, but I hope my response helps someone like me just cruising the internet looking for help.
